MMO-Mechanics GW2 profession reviews: Guardian

2012-03-23 17:42:44

Need help deciding which profession to select in Guild Wars 2? MMO-Mechanics has you covered! Over the next few weeks, we will highlight each profession available with a brief overview of game play, archetype, and other unique characteristics about the profession to help our fans choose the right profession.

The Guardian looks to be the equivalent to the paladin archetype found in other MMO’s. They will use defensive and protective magic in combat, demonstrating fierce loyalty to their allies. As part of the Soldier category, they are able to wear the heaviest of armors to help withstand incoming blows and withstand the most punishing of attacks.

Guardians use virtues as their special ability which can be used as a passive buff, or activated to provide a high yield, temporary buff (which will deactivate the passive buff until it is recharged). Virtues can be used to provide a buff for blocking incoming attacks, add offensive pressure by adding a burning condition debuff, or a passive healing buff.

When assuming an offensive manner, Guardians are well versed in using equipment to damage their foes. The Guardian can use two-handed weapons (such as a hammer), or opt to don a more traditional sword and shield. Guardians have aquatic weapons as well (such as the trident) to battle oppressors underwater.
