RE: Juggernaut | Guardian DPS Discussion
Easy way to solve: Find a training dummy. hit it with a Plasma Brand. Check how much the dot does.
Wait til its gone and then overhead slash. Check how much each dot does. Off the top of my head its a rather large difference in favor of Plasma Brand, but I'm not positive. |

Yea, I have been traveling for work and haven't been able to get online to check, but using the timeline generated by torparse I was able to find out the 500 DOT is from PB, but it seems to only tick once every 3 seconds, making it less exciting than I originally thought. A cursory look at the tick rates indicates that all 3 DOTs tick on a different timeline. It looks like PB's ticks every 3 seconds, OS's twice a second, and BS's every 1.5 seconds. I am a software engineer so I am going to write a dirty custom parser to find the mean tick rate for each from the logs, cutting out any long gaps which would be an "oops, the DOT ran out" moment and would throw off a good analysis. What this means for me (and why I am writing this) is that neither the DPS reported or the average hit damage are good numbers for analysis. If the DOT isn't maintained 100% the DPS is thrown off (since they use the fight length), and since they tick at different rates they can't be compared on a per-hit basis. They need to be normalized to be directly comparable, and finding the actual tick rate and using that instead of the fight length to get the true DPS is what is needed for a good analysis of our DOTs. If anyone is interested I can post my results here as comparative values (absolute values don't work as its hard to scale to match some else's damage levels). |

RE: Juggernaut | Guardian DPS Discussion
Does anyone have any experience with the battlemaster set bonus for pve? I picked a set up before it was removed from the vendors, thought it might be useful, especially for rage. I'm going to parse in a few days of course, just curious if anyone has already experimented.
The thing is, the pve set bonus seems like it's there to make rage idiot proof (2 piece), and to give vengeance some actual rage generation. Pvp on the other hand gives me a nice burst any opportunity I have to charge, which happens a lot in denova and tfb, without me even needing to intercede. The benefit is obvious there, as long as I don't need that 5 seconds on enrage, I'm in good shape on half the bosses in the new content. The 4 piece pve doesn't seem that useful to me in rage, other than my opening rotation I don't use saber throw that much as a rage builder. The issue here really is 5 seconds of burst versus easier utility of smash procs. Where I'm really concerned if I do take the bm set is this: assuming I don't need force charge off cooldown for a kite phase, and I can reliably jump to a ranged or healer, is it worth the time to intercede out and charge back in? |

RE: Juggernaut | Guardian DPS Discussion
I am a bit heartbroken guys. I love my Juggernaut, the animations, the style, the gameplay. But it seems like he just isnt worth it as DD. My gear is quite good, full T4 campaign, optimized and augmented, with some T5 parts in it. Here it is.
This is my best combat log so far, ~1640 DPS on the ops dummy, 7 min fight. I saw some logs in the other forums with 2200+dps on the ops dummy, which makes me very sad. Thats basically ~35-40% more damage compared to a marauder or sniper. Granted, my gear is not perfect but I dont believe it would make such a big difference. So: are there some high-end DD Juggs/Guardians willing to post me some of their logs so I can compare them and hopefully do some more damage? Or maybe some advice on my gear? Thanks in advance! |

But I can say from running ops and parsing for me, a vengence jugg CAN do more then what you are putting out. A guildy is a vengence jugg(he is a rockstar) and is up on the top of the parse most of the time, while running ops. I personally do around 1850 last time I parsed on an ops dummy, I'm willing to bet he does pretty good as well on a dummy. Looking at your gear... -It seems that your crit is high -endurance heavy armoring(legs, hands, offhand) -2 mods that aren't ideal(the 2 in your belt and bracers) -once you get to you target crit level, you should augment with power augs instead of strength augs. |

The best dps on live right now from a Vengeance Jugg is Mauull, who posted 1990 on torparse, which is much better than I've been able to get, although I have just recently gotten full BH gear. I'm not sure I'll be able to optimize it before 2.0 goes live. So just sit comfortably, knowing Vengeance is getting great buffs in the expansion. |

This forum post on swtor.com- http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=621208 really helped me improve my DPS for vengeance/vigilance . It was very thorough and very well done. My DPS has crossed the 2100 mark with it a few times.

RE: Juggernaut | Guardian DPS Discussion
Hi. I'm looking for a little help with stats for my rage jugg. I cant get crit rating figured out. I'm hearing that people are dropping all crit rating and doing higher DPS, but as rage I have the inherent bonus to surge. I went and looked at parses on torparse from other rage juggs who were putting out higher numbers and noticed they were critting about 6%-10% less often than I was. So, I took about 300 crit rating out of my gear (from 430 to 130) and I parsed ever so slightly lower on the training dummy. Now I'm confused.
Does anyone know what crit rating I should be looking for as a rage jugg at 55? sorry to post in this old thread but I cant seem to make a new one. |
