Ah, that explains a lot. I was always unsure how this companion bonuses are meant.

So let me get this straight:
If I complete all companion conversations with my first character, I get all these nice 1%-bonuses and +50 presence for all my chars. If I then do the same with my second char, I get just the +50 presence, but no more little bonuses, because I already have them.

Is that correct?
