Post 1.2 heat management and impact on DPS (Arsenal)
As the facts for the upcoming changes on Arsenals are known by now, lets discuss the impact of those changes.
As a reminder, I'll post the changes again: +15% proc chance gain on Barrage (now 45%) - 6 sec ICD -10% damage on Tracers +10% damage on HSM 100% chance to vent 8 heat on a crit (missiles/unload) - 3 sec ICD It's already been pointed out, that we'll see around 4% less damage, when using Burals DPS sheet. The question is - how will this be modified by the fact, that we will be able to use Unload more regularly? Unload is our most heat effective skill, as pointed out by GWARRR in his compendium. Due to the proc changes we will most likely see Unload to be used nearly every time on the ICD of barrage. Theory: This means we will effectively be able to reduce our heat buildup, while having an increase in damage output (procced unloads deal quite some more damage after all). While Tracer still might be one of our mayor sources of damage, we will see an increase in overall damage, as we will stay in the low heat bracket more likely, thus reducing the need of filling in Rapid Shots. As far as I know the ICD on barrage starts right when it's triggered, which leaves us to 3 - 6 seconds not using Unload. So an attack chain might look like this now: Tracer, Tracer(proc), Unload, Tracer, Tracer(proc), Unload, HSM, Tracer, Tracer(proc), Unload, Rail and so on. Unload most likely won't be used unprocced anymore. (My) Conclusion: The changes to Barrage will raise our DPS due to constantly procced Unloads and better heat management, despite the fact Tracer got reduced by 10% damage. Please discuss
