RE: 1.2 notes discussion [Guardian/Jugg Tank]
I got to play around with a full immortal build last night, 31/6/4. Single target threat was a non-issue, didnt get much aoe tanking done since we only killed the world boss on voss.
In immortal I skipped battle cry, thrown gauntlet, and unleashed. In veng i took 3/3 single saber mastery, 2/2 imp sunder, and 1/3 accuracy (with my gear that puts me at 97.5% accuracy). I took 2/2 ravager and 2/2 decimate in rage. Over the course of 3 hours of work on the world boss, not a single miss was recorded in my logs. With 2/2 intimidation, backhand becomes 1 rage, and I felt like I was swimming in rage all night (in single target tanking). I couldnt get rid of it fast enough. Scream, smash, crushing blow, backhand all on CD, and there were times I could fit in 2-3 vicious slashes without a worry. According to the ACT plugin available now, my TPS for our kill was ~3950. Not entirely sure how accurate that is. On hybrid specs, I dont really see that much added value by a 17/24 build. The full immortal spec offers a lot in the upper tiers (4% SC, crushing blow are my personal favorites). I will be more than willing to test it out once the raids open up though. |

RE: 1.2 notes discussion [Guardian/Jugg Tank]
Would you mind posting some of the Force Scream absorbs from your log? I'm interested to see if this thing still scales on power, as I find it ridiculous that they left it that way for this patch.

I'm having a bit of trouble determining the absorbs from ACT (first time using it). So i'm just gonna post the log here for you guys to dig through. https://gist.github.com/2130368 Should be the log from our entire night of attempts. (the Kill is the last one, lasting 6:17) |

If thats how its actually happening, that sucks. |

RE: 1.2 notes discussion [Guardian/Jugg Tank]
Let me start off by saying this is just my brief analysis of a small sample of logs I acquired from our encounter with the world boss.
For reference: this is the link to the entire log. This post will also be posted on swtor forums here First lets take a look at a few where the sonic barrier talent appears to be working properly. PHP Code: [03/18/2012 20:09:29] [@Zmarg] [@Zmarg] [Force Scream {998270658674688}] [Event {836045448945472}: AbilityActivate {836045448945479}] ()Code: [03/18/2012 20:15:56] [@Zmarg] [@Zmarg] [Sonic Barrier {2308471907155968}] [ApplyEffect {836045448945477}: Sonic Barrier {2308471907155968}] ()From the first set, you can see that it appears my sonic barrier absorbed 850 damage. In the second example, sonic barrier appears to absorb the full 337 damage of nightmare paranoia and then later a further 512. This appears to be working as intended. There are many other examples where the shield absorbs the full ~850 damage. Here are a few examples, however, of it appearing to remove the buff, as if it absorbed damage, if i deflect the following attack. #1 Code: [03/18/2012 20:15:23] [@Zmarg] [@Zmarg] [Force Scream {998270658674688}] [Event {836045448945472}: AbilityActivate {836045448945479}] ()Code: [03/18/2012 20:15:10] [@Zmarg] [@Zmarg] [Sonic Barrier {2308471907155968}] [ApplyEffect {836045448945477}: Sonic Barrier {2308471907155968}] ()Code: [03/18/2012 20:21:23] [@Zmarg] [@Zmarg] [Sonic Barrier {2308471907155968}] [ApplyEffect {836045448945477}: Sonic Barrier {2308471907155968}] ()This next one is interesting Code: [03/18/2012 20:20:25] [@Zmarg] [@Zmarg] [Sonic Barrier {2308471907155968}] [ApplyEffect {836045448945477}: Sonic Barrier {2308471907155968}] ()It would appear that I absorbed the initial 337 from nightmare paranoia, then deflected a ranged attack, leaving ~513 damage to be asborbed, however the sonic barrier buff got removed. Conclusions: It would appear that even if an attack is deflected, the game calculates the damage you would take anyway, and the sonic barrier buff is consumed, whether the attack hits you or not. I do not know exactly how the game determines hits/misses etc, but this data shows that sonic barrier loses effectiveness as you gain defense. The more likely you are to deflect the next attack, the more likely you are to lose the absorb before it has a chance to actually absorb damage. Thanks for reading, feel free to analyze the logs and draw your own conclusions. I also could be interpreting these logs completely wrong, so please any feedback is appreciated. |

Yey So WITH the 4-piece set bonus (+20% absorb) from our PvE set, Sonic Barrier is only absorbing 850 (when it works!?) I'd like to see this skill buffed to scale with our HP pool... maybe 8% absorb by default and the 4pc adds a 2% to total 10% HP pool barrier. (Of course assuming they fix removing the barrier on deflection... derp) This is why I am REALLY glad the Combat Log has been added. Ridiculous things like this can be found and corrected. |

So before everyone goes and gets their pitchforks I wanted to post and say I was incorrect in my findings. Deflection DOES NOT remove the sonic barrier buff, the logs just have a funny way of posting the [remove effect] line, and then a few lines later.. absorbing the damage from the effect they removed earlier. ![]() Anyway, I was able to find the rest of the damage I claimed was "missing" on another look through, it can all be found on my post on the official forums (with some info on static barrier) http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=369522 The talent is still really lackluster though, even with 4pc on. |

RE: 1.2 notes discussion [Guardian/Jugg Tank]
I'm nowhere near endgame yet, so I might be missing something, but with Swelling Winds moving to the Focus tree and our ongoing AoE issues, would a Defense/Focus hybrid be viable? Something like 23/0/18, to give you just enough points to grab Shield Specialization out of Defense while still putting 3 points into Felling Blow?
There would be less Focus generation overall, but maxing Courage and Momentum (with Zealous Leap) should ensure that every Force Sweep and Blade Storm is free of cost while Felling Blow makes Sweep hit much harder. Any thoughts? |
