RE: Nightmare Title Runs
(02-23-2012 11:05 PM)Rooks Wrote: As my guild very recently (last night) downed 16 man nightmare Soa, our attention naturally turns to these 'title runs'. 1. Doable as either. If you have 16 fantastic players I'm of the opinion that 16man is easier than 8man, but getting 16 equally skilled players is harder than finding 8, so it really depends on your makeup. 16man title runes are certainly possible though, and have been done. Basically, (especially in Karagga's) to complete this run on time, you need to shoot for 1 shotting every boss. You have a little leeway, but not much in Karaggas. In EV you should be able to get to Soa within 50 minutes. If you're taking much more than an hour, I'd probably hold off on trying nightmare runs until you have the fights down a bit better, although of course if you're 1 shotting Soa you just need to get to him before an hour and 45 minutes is up. (But if you're 1 shotting Soa I'd expect everything else to be a 1 shot, too.) 2. Complete the instance within 2 hours of engaging the first boss. (This is according to a GM. That said, we still count it from the time we set the instance to nightmare and have the first person zone in, since from our personal experience it works this way, not when you engage the first boss. (The first week we did the run we finished within 2 hours of attacking the first boss, but not within 2 hours of zoning in, and we didn't get our titles. Can't confirm this as truth though, as we've always made it within an hour and 30 minutes since then.)) As an aside, you get an achievement "Survived X" for doing a boss fight in 1 shot, but that's it. 3. Avoid resets. Sounds obvious, but somethings you should try extra hard to do. Such as: a) Don't recall from the area when you're about to wipe. Just /stuck to kill yourself and eat the repair cost. Sometimes exiting area will bug the instance and you'll have to reset, losing the title. b) Don't switch party leaders. If whoever owns the instance has to restart for any reason, have them Alt-F4 so they don't drop group. An instance owner change counts as a reset, and you'll lose the title. c) If someone dies, don't release until the boss or everyone is dead. Twice we had it happen where the first person who released got stuck in a different instance version of our raid, and we had to reset. d) The last boss must be killed within 2 hours of entering the instance (or engaging the first boss, depending.) Anyone in on that kill gets the title, even if they only joined for that boss. We found this out when half of our "Group 1" didn't have their first four bosses reset on Tuesday. We brought them in for Soa though, that had reset, and we all got our titles. Got both these titles about 4 times now, for various guildies. Let me know if you have any other questions. |
