Making sure you understand, that SWTOR rage should be viewed more like combo points built on your character for certain actions than the WoW warrior rage mechanic, which varies based upon the amount of damage done or taken.

This is what will make the Juggernaut class much easier to balance in comparison to the WoW warrior. Control their rage flow per minute (via both cost and generation via sundering assault) and you balance their damage output significantly.

Still has many of the same weaknesses, not the least of which is starting the fight with zero resources rather than maximum resources.

Yes but they have definitely addressed this with battering assault (assuming it's the same for sundering assault) giving you 6 rage immediately. Combine this with sabre throw and force charge and that is a full bar of rage to play with.

It was. The best you can start with is a FCh, BA and end up with 10 rage. But it is still stands, that we have to use 2/3 GCDs to get a full rage bar while others can start unloading from their first.

And the 10 rage is only if you are Carnage, else it's 9.

Ah okay, I didn't realise sabre throw was removed for marauders. Yes we have 2-3 globals to build rage, but we can also generally spam our heavy hitters, whereas other classes generally have theirs on a CD. Really comes down to how you like to manage your resources/damage. I love the rage mechanic and no CD's as it allows me to dictate exactly when I can unload. My hesitation to make a marauder my main is because I think melee are usually shafted by the dev's when it come to balanced PvP (insert frost mage).

Well, not really. Many of the really heavy hitters, even SWs have on CD (see Impale, Annihilate, Shatter). It's the mid-range ones that can be cast at will, provided you have the rage. Now take for example SI 'sins. Their super heavy hitters (Discharge, Shock) are on short CDs like SW ones are, but they similar have a few mid range ones that can be spammed until they run out of Force. Roughly the same number of times, too. Difference is, they start with the resources to spam those a few times, while SWs have to use a couple globals to get there.

Thing is, with the except of Assault, Massacre, Sweeping Slash and Viscous Strike, everything else has a CD, shortest of which is 4.5 Sunder Assault, everything else ranges fom 6 to 60 seconds with most of them around the 12 second mark (+/- 5). We are limited to what we can use depending on how much rage we have and if its not on cooldown.

Edit: Kore totally ninja'd his way in front of my post while I was tabbed and not typing!

RE: SW/JK General Information | Simple Questions and Answers
Vicious slash isn't on a CD and it hits like a very hard for rage spec and also has 15% increased crit chance. Massacre also has no CD and Annihilate, providing you can get uptime on the target, has an very short CD too.

Vicious Slash is nothing to be sneezed at for the other specs either and if we're talking pvp (which I am and should have stated). I really can't see why you wouldn't spec into rage to get the benefits of a spammable heavy hitter, as you're going to want obliterate in most cases anyway.
