Weekly Dev Q&A Thread
Bioware has announced that they will be collecting questions for the Devs to answer weekly.

See: http://www.swtor.com/blog/new-community-...-summaries

The announcement stresses the importance of asking a short, simple question, so I was going to suggest we spam the thread with:

"What is the PvE Accuracy cap?"

But they might just tell us the cap on the bonus from Accuracy Rating (30%) which we already know, so instead I posted:

Quote:We know that Accuracy reduces the chance attacks will miss, and that Accuracy above 100% reduces the enemy's chance to avoid an attack.

For purposes of determining how much Accuracy Rating is "enough" in PvE (the "Accuracy soft cap"), we also need to know the maximum Melee/Ranged and Force/Tech avoidances for Flashpoint/Operation bosses.

So the question: What is the maximum Melee/Ranged and Force/Tech avoidance a Flashpoint/Operation boss may currently have, neglecting short-term, temporary defensive buffs the NPC may place on themselves?

The thread for posting questions is here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=267762

Naturally, it is already filled with questions about toggle-able hoods, mounts and guild banks, but this is the type of question they may actually answer, since it doesn't involve making any future promises or commitments, somebody like Georg Zoeller definitely knows the answer, and anybody who understands the game will realize it's an important question.

So, I suggest we spam the thread with variations of this question every week until they answer it.

RE: Weekly Dev Q&A Thread
That is great, hopefully they don't ignore questions on mechanics which would aid us in theorcrafting immeasurably.

RE: Weekly Dev Q&A Thread
Along similar lines, a question about whether bosses have any Resistance/Defence chance against Force/Tech attacks, and/or if they intend to add any, would be good to know also.

The question I quoted includes Force/Tech resistance...

RE: Weekly Dev Q&A Thread
Sorry, I meant more specifically in the future. If they have Accuracy on gear now and confirm that they don't have any resistance on current bosses, I don't want to be removing all of my Accuracy mods and then in the next patch have them add bosses with it!

RE: Weekly Dev Q&A Thread
i changed the question in my post to:
Quote:What is the Melee/Ranged and Force/Tech avoidance Flashpoint/Operation bosses currently have (on normal, hard and nightmare mode), and will this value be stable in short and mid-term?
mainly to filter if they have a different cap in the different modes (though i don't expect it). also it wouldn't get us very far if we get an answer for now but in the T2 operations they suddenly increase it and we are back to square one.
i took the 'maximum' out because i thought it made the question - in combination with some buffs - to complex. we wouldn't stack acc just for one buff anyway.

RE: Weekly Dev Q&A Thread
Nothing of any substance answered this week.

Question reposted, in shorter format:

Quote:For purposes of determining how much Accuracy Rating is "enough" in PvE (the "Accuracy soft cap"), we need to know the maximum avoidances for Flashpoint/Operation bosses.

What is the maximum Melee/Ranged and Force/Tech avoidance a Flashpoint/Operation boss currently has?

This time I got the question on page 3 of the thread; who knows if that will help...

Having experience in this line of work (selecting which questions you answer) I can anticipate that they are going to answer much more general questions than what you are posing.

Keep in mind that the first adverse effect of theorycrafting (for devs) is that the more theorycrafting available, the faster players "eat through" content, which any1 can understand is detrimental when they still have so much to polish.

They are going to be very, very careful with how much info they release in this direction, and they are definitely not gonna break the hit chances down for us by difficulty, content type, etc.

My opinion is that if you try to pose your question as something much more general (what is the chance to miss a boss-type level 50 NPC) or (does miss chance increase exponentially or linearly for NPC/players above your level) is much more likely to be answered, as it may "help everyone" and not simply allow raiders to narrow down their budgeting to clear content more effectively. No matter how desireable that may be for us.

Peace

RE: Weekly Dev Q&A Thread
You may be right, but at some point they may figure people are tired of "<Insert random user-requested feature> is one of our highest priorities! We have a team of *top* people working around the clock on that, and at some unspecified time in the indefinite future, we'll give you actual information."

Everyone is free to phrase the question how they wish, and more people asking can only improve the chance of a response.

The thread for next week is here:

As an old friend of mine says, "If you want to win the lottery, you have to buy a ticket," and in this case the ticket costs less than a minute of your time...

RE: Weekly Dev Q&A Thread
good point ymoh.
guess i will try the more general approach this time so it looks more like 'please dear deff help me' instead of 'hey, gimma info!'. hope that way it will sound like a need that could come from anyone who wants to raid.

Quote:Background:
I'm currently gathering the equip for my jedi shaddow to raid with. From 'the other' game I know that accuracy is the most important stat for damage dealers.

Question:
How much accuracy do I need so that I don't miss in raids?
