RE: The Shield Tech/Shield Spec Compendium
Here's something I've been playing with for a bit and still need to figure out which Augs I want to put in the empty slots.

http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/character/0b...84fef0f5cd

I've built this off of the spreadsheet located here for PT 4 piece on line 68 which is basically the lowest squishiness you can get.

Thoughts?

RE: The Shield Tech/Shield Spec Compendium
so at what point of shield/absorb should we actually start looking at defense?

@SLi I didn't notice a big drop, but I do feel a bit squishier. It also feels like they changed the way protection works in PvP. My numbers have been much lower since update.

I do not know if this is up to date, but based on the charts here: http://imgur.com/a/TU0Sn

it looks like stack shield and absorb to 425 and defense to 300, then stack equal amounts of shield and defense.

RE: The Shield Tech/Shield Spec Compendium
Well with Campaign gear and now the easily available augments I'm sure many PTs now have beyond 1200 total rating (at which the graph ends).

I dunno, stopping Absorb at 425 seems too low. Is it really more valuable to start stacking shield and defense beyond that?

I'm currently at approx. (With atleast 10 Augments now):

Defense (350~ Rating) = 15.7% (Still waiting for 1m campaign piece to get my 2% bonus)
Shield (550~ Rating) = 52%
Absorb (525~ Rating) = 58%

The percentages quoted are my overall percentages. Not on my desktop so cant check how much % is base and how much is from stats. But I guess that's irrelevant, my Ratings listed are roughly accurate.

With the augments Ive got a mix of absorb and defense ones (with power), and got 1 Aim+Endurance one. I'm just wondering what the optimum gearing would be, overall that is. I know different situations favour different things so it's hard to say. I feel like I should favouring defense and endurance a little bit more, or should I keep pushing for more shield and absorb?

I've recently come back to the game after a long break and have leveled a new vanguard. I'm approaching 50 and am curious, is biochem still the best way to go as far as min maxing goes or have the other crafting skills become on par with it due to buffs/nerfs?

RE: The Shield Tech/Shield Spec Compendium
Doesn't really matter anymore I guess. Everyone can augment, everyone can use the best stims and all the BoP stuff is quickly replaced.

So its a matter of convenience, if your a fresh 80 then the BoP stuff is nice but if you want a re-usable stim for non-hgh end content and access to making adernals yourself (make & save money) then its still BioChem ftw.

My armour value dropped by approx 10% immediately following 1.3 but went back to normal in a patch fix a few days later.

I have used that sheet many times. Though it would seem the sheet always thinks I should drop Defense for shield or absorb, and that can't be right.

The linked talent calculator for 31/8/2 appears to be broken since the calendars updated to the 1.3 talents. Is that still the best spec, and is it broken down somewhere what it looks like in the new trees?

But it doesn't take into account class-specific procs or the campaign proc relic. If using the proc relic, in addition to our class-specific shield based procs, wouldn't shield get weighted higher, and absorb lower, which would in turn push defense higher? This is why I tend to use graphs over the spreadsheet, as the spreadsheet is just not class specific and therefore can't be telling us the whole story for BiS.

Of course, if that statement is wrong I'd love to hear why. Cause I'm really at full campaign/BH gear and can afford to mix and match mods, augments and relics to achieve BiS but I don't know what true BiS is anymore...
