Karagga the Unyielding
This is the final boss of Hutts Hospitality. He has a neat hat.
This boss was pretty cool, and is hands down (IMO) the hardest boss to date. VERY hard on the healers, and honestly we spent most of the time on this boss with people below 50% hp. We got this boss on our 3rd real attempt (5th, technically, but 2 we died within about 10 seconds to a bug.) The boss has several abilities. 1. Oil/fire. The boss puts oil on the ground behind him, then lights it on fire. Melee need to be out of the way, and the tank needs to move him. The soft enrage on this fight is that you CAN fill the floor with fire. 2. Exploding mouse droids. These hit for about 3 - 5k each. Easiest way is to have an assassin tank taunt them and shroud to take no damage. Alternatively, any aoe that slows/stuns them will kill them very quickly. Knockbacks with a stun (overload) also work nicely. 3. Gravity Well. This is cast on one player (sometimes two, bug I think) and roots them in place. (Sucks if both are rooted together, which they generally are.) They take a little bit of damage. Everyone who gets pulled in though, takes quite a bit. When the well ends, it explodes, and does damage to everyone. This is pretty rough when two people are rooted in the same place. 4. Spikes. The bane of any healer. It seemed like any time I got to 90% on a cast bar I'd get spiked into the air. Random, and especially liked to target me right when I popped innervate. Hits for about 3k, so while the damage is negligible, I lost an insane amount of heals to this mechanic, and I can guarantee you it led to a few deaths. 5. Missile salve. Only seemed to do this right when the gravity well went out, and only once. Hits everyone for a couple thousand. 6. Laser beam - Single target laser beam on whoever has aggro. Hits for 5k-ish a tick. 7. Exhaust - conal aoe behind him. Melee needs to be on the sides. Strat: Put the ranged in the center, and kite the guy back and forth along the sides, getting a little closer as you go. This allows you to fill as much of the floor as you can. Melee really need to stay away from the oil/fire. I can tell you (from experience) that if they get to close, and they get the gravity well, it will root them into the fire, and pull everyone else with them. Insta wipe. It is possible to sorc pull someone in the gravity well. Well stays, but at least they're out of the fire. Overall, this is an insanely fun fight, but it's absolutely a healer check. Yes, you need good positioning and heads up play from your DPS, but the real burden on this fight is tank positioning, and heals. This is the first fight (and I've attempted every EV boss on all difficulties) that I haven't been able to spend at least 20% of my time DPSing. We did this fight with: 1 Assassin Tank 3 Melee DPS (2 juggy, 1 powertech) 2 Ranged DPS (Sniper, merc) 2 Healers (Sorc, merc) And it was fun. |

RE: Karagga the Unyielding
he also does a conal aoe behind him, his exhausts blow our damage
otherwise a pretty chaotic but fun fight, at least its not as bugged as SOA for example |

RE: Karagga the Unyielding
Again just a quick copy and paste from my reply in the bonethrasher thread:
This boss seemed to require everyone to be on the ball and alert. The tank controls where the fire patches are placed on the floor, so move in a sensible direction as to not cut off the room. The boss will pull most players towards 1 ranged player who is rooted, you must then spread out to stop the damage to yourself and him. He will place a debuff up on someone and spawn explosive mouse droids, we found using earthquake on the boss and/or trooper aoe was sufficient to take care of these adds. They explode for around 4-5k each. He does cluster bombs which seems to be a cone of damage up to around 20 meters, we aren't sure if this is a frontal cone or randomly placed. There was also some random damage dished out to players during the fight but alas I cannot remember what this was. We moved the boss in a line from right to left then forward a bit to the other direction, similar to the movement of the add tanking on Illidan in wow (if anyone can remember that) for the fire patches. As for the rest of the fight, we spread out and dealt with the little adds and the boss was pretty anti-climactic after Fabricator. I did notice with my Gunslingers 35m range it seemed that I was able to out-range the AOE pull. |

RE: Karagga the Unyielding
Did you already try him on Hardmode?
However, how can a fight be "very hard" and be killed in the 3/5 th try? (We killed him in the 2. try) I guess the most important part is how you setup the group position. If you do it correctly ( so that no cleave hits the group), the damage should be healable. We didnt even kill the small robots, so if you handle the adds correctly, everything should be healable |

RE: Karagga the Unyielding
If your tank keeps his back to the wall then Half the oil slick will be outside the room and not in the way. It's a solid way to buy some more time on the encounter.

RE: Karagga the Unyielding
I just killed this guy on hardmode today. I really wish we had done it on nightmare as hard was a joke. We one shot him in normal and two shot him on hard. As long as you have aware players most of the damage is avoidable. Being the healer I noticed far more damage going out on our normal attempt than hard because people hadn't quite learned the fight I guess. The tank takes virtually no damage on hard and the only source of real damage seemed to be the mouse droids which are easily dealt with by some fast aoe(don't have your tank aoe taunt them, that caused our only wipe lol). When we killed him on hard everyone ended the fight will full health. Karagga's palace was extremely disappointing to me. Pre nerf Soa was far more difficult than any of the encounters in here with the random and albeit buggy nature of the lightning balls. It added a sense of stress and urgency to the fight as heals that I have yet to experience elsewhere. I enjoy wiping on bosses and making progress. In Karagga's there was none of that. The most wipes we had was at 2 on defabricator on normal because we messed around with the buttons too long and were trying to see if you could somehow stack the increased damage buff he takes by quickly executing 2 flames on him in a row(you can't).
One good thing that came out of Karagga though was his hat dropped as an orange item for us. Its so goofy looking and is the same size as the one he wears. |

RE: Karagga the Unyielding
Yeah, totally agree with Rand. 1 shot every boss in here tonight, it was honestly laughable. Not sure if it's because people knew the mechanics (though we had 3 people who haven't raided yet, much less done Karaggas) or if hardmode is severely undertuned. Either way, hardmode was very easy.
Sadly, no awesome hat for us though. |

RE: Karagga the Unyielding
We found this fight to be extremely easy, got it on our 3rd attempt as soon as we figured out how to properly deal with the mouse droids.
We found it to be SIGNIFICANTLY easier if we just had all the aoe dropped under the boss when the droids were spawning, which seemed to be ~15 seconds after his gravity bombs. Sadly we didn't bring Sorc DPS and had 2 sorc heals so we had myself (sorc healer) drop my aoe to stun the droids since they are normal mobs. We also had all other dps drop their AOE on the boss when this happened with a flashbang from the sniper. Killed him the first try with this method. Group Comp: 1 Power tech tank 1 Operative DPS 1 Marauder DPS 1 Sniper DPS 2 Mercenary DPS 2 Sorcerer Healers |

RE: Karagga the Unyielding
We killed this tonight in hardmode on our first attempt. Bonetrasher was the only boss that gave us a bit abit of trouble in hardmode.

RE: Karagga the Unyielding
Hope Nightmare is much harder, after the patch SOA on hard is piece of cake and Karagga's Palace is also piece of cake. 2-shotted this boss with 1 person who never healed before as healer. Only had like 1/5th of the field covered in fire, so soft enrage takes a long time.
Going NiM next week, hope he gets a bit harder. |
