Orange (Custom) Bracers and Belts

Social gear is kind of bugged at the moment. Apart from only being available in light armor, apparently you have to re-equip it after every load screen, or you lose the stats.

I have levelled 4 toons to 40, and 2 more to 28, and I haven't seen a single orange belt or bracer drop. I've also never seen either on the GTN...

Social gear losing stats was fixed in the 1.1 patch (or at least the notes said so). To find orange gear on the GTN, do a general search (for example armor, light armor, enter) then sort by level. That will always show the orange gear first. Sometimes you have to sort by level twice.

No. Technically, they are supposed to be labeled under blue items, but many are mislabeled internally. The best way I've found is that if you search with no quality filters, then sort by level (click the level column header), the vast majority of the orange items will for some unknown reason show up at the beginning (or end, click the level header again if you don't see any). It's very odd, but sorting that way will give you 2-3 pages of orange items before any others show up.

That might be because the AH sorts them by their base armor ratings/ilevels instead of the modded.

There is social rank I and III modifiable light armor belts for 60/200 Fleet commendations called Civilian Pilot's Belt. That seems like a good deal for SI, assuming that patch note regarding social gear is correct (that it doesn't lose stats on zoning). Granted, the graphics of the rank I are more plain than the rank III but it is modable and "free" (just do a few space missions).

i bought a belt for my agent yesterday (gtn). though i'm disappointed: it has only armoring and mod slot. no enhancement.

I picked one of these up on the GTN when I was leveling my main sorc, very solid bracers that I kept until Columi.

I managed to buy a pair of Sith Warrior bracers for 50k and sold them for 150k. Today I got two Sith Inquisitor bracers, one for 40k and the other for 4388. If these can sell for 150k each I'll be seeing a very large return on the investment.

I don't understand why are these bracers and belts so important.

I understand u use mods to level them up as you level, but green gear is enough for leveling and you find a LOT of it. So why bother spending 200k (lol) on one of these.

At level 50, 200k isn't much money. You can get 150k doing all the Ilum/Belsavis Dailies in one day. Putting level 50 epic mods in the bracer/belt is better than level 50 crafted epics, and at least comparable to epic crafted epics with augment slot.
