HP: 20109

Armor Rating: 8360
Damage Reduction: 52.63%
Defense Rating: 311 (16.55%)
Shield Rating: 380 (51.06%)
Abs Rating: 305 (50.79%)

I am wearing 4 pc Rakata, so I included the set bonus as making my base Defense 7% (normally 5%).

Squishiness: 0.297655
Sigmasquish: 0.191691
Spikey-ness: 1.341838

For anyone wondering, I replaced all of the Accuracy/Defense Enhancements that are default in Rakata gear, to Shield Chance/Abs Chance. I have no clue why PVE gear comes loaded with so much Accuracy, while the PVP tank gear doesn't. Makes no sense. I still need to proc an Aug slot on my bracers, but until they fix the Rakata weapon bug, I am not sure what else I could do to improve my mitigation.

Just wondering, did you just put the Daily enhancements in it or you put some crafted higher level ones ?

I asked Milk yesterday, said it was the Advanced Sturdiness Enhancement 25 which drop in Karagga's Palace.

I've been thinking today about whether or not I should go for the Veracity Hyperaccelerated Defense Generator [Mastercraft] over the Rakata Shield, does Tech Power really matter all that much? I'd gain 29 Defense, 28 Absorb and 26 Accuracy. While losing 1 shield rating, 57 endurance, 34 Aim, 46 Tech Power. Guess I can play around and see how it goes.

Has anymore worked out a rough idea how much 1 endurance is worth in comparison to the "Armor equivalent points"?

"Effective Health" is a controversial benchmark, which is discussed in other threads. Personally I don't believe that comparisons of Endurance to defensive stats can be done believably in a general way.

If you want to play around with it, the change in effective health due to a defensive stat is:

-H * (deltaSqush) / (squishiness)^2

where H is your total buffed hit points, and deltaSquish is given for each stat in row 27 of the spreadsheet.

The change in effective health due to a point of endurance is:

10 * (%buffs) / (squishiness)

%buffs would include the trooper/BH buff (1.05) and any buffs to endurance from talents.

I suspect you will find that +1 Endurance is about 3 times as good as +1 to any defensive stat, and about 7 or 8 times as good as a point of armor.

RE: Tanking stat spreadsheet online
Meatshielding is a completely outdated method of tanking.
Every modern MMO went away from that concept towards something more sophisticated.
You can easily prove this by swapping any defensive stat to endurance in the combat simulator I posted in post #33 in this thread.

Thanks for the reply's, specifically LagunaD taking the time to give me the formulas for the spreadsheet Smile , and I agree meat shield tanking is not the way to go, I was just curious as at the moment Im dropping a lot of endurance (and armor) in favor of shield/defense/absorb. Im currently gearing with the idea that my target health buffed is 21k~ and everything else should go into mitigation, any thoughts?

I generally don't even see the opportunity to even pick between Endurance and Mitigation/Avoidance stats, aside from Augments, but Mitigation/Avoidance should almost always win.

You only need enough HP, coupled with your raw Mitigation (Armor and Damage Reduction), to live until the next heal. The whole 'effective HP' concept only works if you assume you're not getting healed at all, at which point you have other concerns.

Mitigation is most important for always having effect, and reduces the amount of healing you need while also increasing the time between when you need heals (Say a healer gets CCd, or you move out of range, etc).

Avoidance reduces the average healing, but due to the random nature you can wind up getting hit multiple times in a row on occasion. You need enough mitigation to survive this event, or plan on CDs.

Endurance just reduces the time between when you need heals. You still need the same amount eventually, so the healers have to spend more time and resources keeping you up, and not as much healing everyone else, running out of fire, or helping DPS.

There's an app for that: Effective Health. I don't see how a metric that describes how much damage you can survive between heals in a worst-case avoidance scenario is any less applicable to this game than to others.

You don't ban a tool because the vast majority of people use it incorrectly, you simply tell them they're using it incorrectly.
