RE: Anyone ever used a "Frag Pedal"?
Quote:How about this... Save $80 and download Skype for free with a voice-activated chat function that actually works, unlike vents. I dont get why people are still paying for vent servers when skype is free.. Skype has several major limitations as far as gaming goes. First, it has a limit to the number of hours you can be in voice chat per month. Second, it has a limit to the number of people that can simultaneously be speaking at once. Third, it has no push-to-talk functionality, something many gamers are familiar with (and many prefer over an open mic like Skype has). Fourth, people generally have their real name in their normal Skype account, meaning talking to people on Skype requires either setting up a new pseudonym account or exchanging real name information. Lastly, Skype requires an active connection between all those involved, and compared to Vent/Mumble/TS is more complex and involved to add people to the conversation or set up a conversation in the first place. Often times, if the point is just to hang out and chat, it's often more of a pain than it's worth loading Skype and setting up the call. Also, there's no equivalent to just hopping on vent and dropping in a channel while playing, where others can easily just log on and hop into the channel with you, requiring no effort on your part, and start chatting. It's easier for casual socialization, whereas Skype is a bit more involved. Even Angels must kill from time to time...

RE: Anyone ever used a "Frag Pedal"?
These look cool, I would think putting them infront of my feet and leaving my feet on the ground naturally would be best, then steeping up and hitting them when needed would be best. Kind of like Dance Dance Revolution, u stand in the middle but step forward for the up arrow (but ofcourse, we are sitting down.)
And I would use them for 2ndary stuff you need in a fight. things you don't like often, or med packs, that sort of thing. I would rather use a keyboard key for chat I think "These ARE the topics you are looking for..." InfoHunter |

RE: Anyone ever used a "Frag Pedal"?
Why not skype and/or voice activation?
I have a long list of why voice activated mics and skype are bad. for my application. 1. Mouth Breathers 2. Cracker Eaters 3. Dogs 4. Outbursts 5. Other people walking into the room 6. Telling to S.O. to go away you are gaming ETC. I don't want anyone else to have to hear me do these things let alone hear other peoples issues. Voice Activiation is available on Vent, however I HATE it. The pedal is brilliant for Vent, and the other 3 buttons will get used tonight when my corner desk gets replaced with a desk that I can actually use all 4 pedals under. Right now the plan is for one pedal to be Taunt, one AOE taunt, and one as either Retaliation or the friendly force charge. Not sure. |

RE: Anyone ever used a "Frag Pedal"?
Re Fragpedal, I used to used a USB foot with WoW but I can't get it to work with SWTOR. The way I used it in WoW was to set up its three pedals for Alt, Cntl and Shift. Then I would used the appropriate pedal to modify a key press. But SWTOR doesn't seem to recognize the input from the pedal.
Could I use Fragpedal to input modifier keys? Thanks. |
