RE: Keybinding
It was harder to get used to zxcv for me as I just really never bent my fingers down. Now its becoming second nature too a bit though. Im still tweaking my Vanguard buttons so i can then try and mirror it to other classes. Im just happy esdf is almost natual now.

my current all chars binds
tab - medpack sh/tab - stim
q - next enemy sh/q - previous enemy
w - Combat heal sh/w - Combat companion heal
a - CC (cryo granade) sh/a - Incombat power regen (for troops its ammo regen)
z - buff sh/z - ooc regen
x - throw hutball sh/x - cant remember atm lol
c - focus target sh/c - set focus target
v - relic sh/v - relic
r - Combat closer (vans = Storm) Sh/r - guard (thinking of changing this to use with a macro)
t - Defense bubble
g - CC Breaker

thinking of replacing something to make my grab (harpoon) easier to hit may sh/r, and making guard sh/g. All attacks on numbers

1 - explosive surge (dont like it there due to the right click attack defaulting to this slot but when in combat in pvp need it because always strafing n on the move)
sh/1 - freak cant remember lol
2 - cant remember Sh/2 - pulse Cannon
3 - Harpoon (grabber) Sh/3 - Mortar volley
4 - taunt sh/4 area taunt
5 - naga mouse macro (blitz, Stockstrike, High Impact Bolt, Sticky Grenade, Energy Blast, Ion Pulse, hammer shot. All if these are set to in order 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, -, =. will be changing = (hammer shot) to 6 and sliding the rest down a spot to make weaving HS easier for ammo conservation.)

sh/6 - reserve cell
sh/7 - cant remember
sh/8 - cant remember
sh/9 - cant remember
sh/0 - empty
sh/- - empty
sh/= - speeder

this is all off the top of my head at work on my phone lol.
Really want to think of things for mouse wheel up/down/3 plus mouse sh/wheel up/down/3. was trying on my smuggler to use mw up/down as get into cover/out, but it feels odd sh/mw up/down feels a lil better as since no camra lock at i like mw u/d for camra control.

Any have other useful macros? Trying to find that macro for quick symboling targets that would be useful. Also have a G510 keyboard need to learn how to set macros up on it as well.

Its what I am comfortable with but would making this change improve my gaming?

Edit

I am also surprised to hear that people don't use the lower keys. I use the E/S/F setup for movement. Am I the only person who binds C, V, B, N? Pointer finger can get C and V and thumb grabs B and N. I've done this for years and after reading this thread I feel pretty inovative lol.

You can turn left and right by scrolling on the screen with your mouse. Strafe left/right + mouse 1/2 allows you to circle a target with ease. Regardless how you configure your keybinds, as long as you don't have to look down and can continually move while pushing any key stroke you're doing just fine.

RE: Keybinding
I've been using ESDF movement in both MMOs and FPS games for years, WASD just seems weird when I play a game without the ability to rebind keys.

I play a Gunslinger

Anyways the middle bars are setup like this, (n = button on Naga)
[1][2][3][4][5][6][n1][n2][n3][n7][n8][n9]
[a][q][w][r][t][g][n4][n5][n6][n10][n11][n12]

A and Q are cooldowns, my rotation fits into 1,2,3,4,5,6,w,r,t

I use my naga mostly for AoE and less frequently pressed keybinds on all my characters. On the gunslinger 1, 2, 5 and 3 on the naga are my AoEs, 12 is my CC break, 4 is interrupt, 7 is hunker down, 6 is my snare. 11 flash grenade, 10 is cover pulse and 9 is my aggro drop.

On the left I have ` (grave accent/tilde key) bound to another cooldown and F2 bound to medpacks. If I need more keybinds I go farther up in the function keys on the left bar, for instance on my sage I go up to F4.

On the right I have starting from the bottom C, V, B, H, Y. C is my non-combat heal and the other buttons are pretty much all of my damage reduction cooldowns. (I annoy a friend of mine by leaving z and x to their default binds of draw/holster weapon and x to /sit)

Oh, and F1 is bound to target of target.

My only modifier bind is the default shift + Middle mouse button to take cover in place, ever since getting my Naga years ago I've pretty much stopped using modifiers for keybinds out of personal preference.

RE: Keybinding
My typical layout is as follows:

WASD - Movement

I use Shift, Ctrl, and Alt modifiers for all the following, listed by set.

Q - Typically Some type of oft-used Damage abilities.
E - Again, Oft used Damage Abilities
R - Interrupts and CC
F - Autorun, Mounts, Run/Walk, Follow
G - Buffs, Stances
Z - Defensive Cooldowns
X - Bread & Butter Attacks / Focus Generators (Or heals if on Healer)
C - Character / Ability / Talent / Crew Skill panels
V - Meditation, Huttball
1-4 - Finishers (No Shift / Ctrl / Alt Combos)

That's all I use.

For the love of Mike though - I wish there was a Target Focus option, I need it so badly for Guardian Leap. Hell, a Guardian Leap Macro would be my favorite.

/target Focus
/cast Guardian Leap
/target Previous Target

There is a Target Focus, default keybind is: (Alt + F)
The default Focus modifier is: (End) (though I always put it somewhere much easier to reach, usually [R]). To use it, nearly as you've described, is to set your Focus Target with (Alt +F), then hold your Focus modifier key while pressing the keybind for the ability you want to use... I use this for exactly the circumstance you mentioned (using Guardian Leap to bounce around the fight) whenever I'm tanking with my Guardian.

Hope that helps,

RE: Keybinding
Seems wierd that no one has posted this yet;
http://taugrim.com/2011/04/07/guide-to-s...ybindings/

Here you see that he manages to bind ~25 abilities without the use of modifiers, and for those who have extra binding capabilites with the mouse aswell, this should make all your abilities reachable and bindable without having to think wether or not it was shift+4, ctr+4 or alt+4 that damn execute was located on : )
