3/20/18 is the spec i'm rolling with. It takes some real getting used to managing all the procs but it's highly sustainable and the damage output for me at least is better than when I rolled with the full 31 in madness. You could even take out the 2 in haunted dreams and put them in forked lightning to maximise dps, but I like the instant ww. |

If FL then why go deeper into Lightning to get Lightning Storm? If LS then why take talents like Sith Efficacy, Madness and Wrath? Perhaps I'm missing something but this doesn't seem to be bringing anything to the party, just watering down what makes hybrids like 0/13/28 so strong. |

Quote:Are these correct after game-launch? I'll be honest, I didn't alter that portion from Sujin's compendium, which was written earlier during beta. I've yet to check the latest iteration of the consumables. I'll do that and update when I have the chance. Quote:http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201hZf...ZcroRsMz.1 Your build isn't showing up (use knotor.com instead of torhead for talent calcs, their software is better), so I'm going to have to guess at your build a bit. I have to agree with Ping here. You're mixing and matching filler abilities, and thus you're missing a fair amount of the skills that make either decent. If you're going to use Lightning Strike, there's no point in not going on to get Thundering Blast (as Wrath and Madness are then useless talents), in which case you're using a Lightning build. If you're using Force Lightning, Lightning Storm is useless, as is Subversion. The loss of Lingering Nightmares and Force Horrors in the Madness tree also acutely painful for this hybrid build. On a side note, anecdotal statements about getting better dps out of another build are useless here. You need to back up your spec with math or at least well reasoned relevant arguments. Just stating you get better dps doesn't help anyone. In addition, while we're still building theorycrafting for it, most evidence is leaning towards 0/13/28 being the top spec for Madness, so comparisons with x/x/31 aren't terribly telling either. Even Angels must kill from time to time...

RE: Madness/Balance Sorcerer DPS Compendium
In my experiences so far with a sever force spec, i'm operating at a pretty bad force deficit unless the fight allows breaks in dps. I'm pretty unsatisfied with balance for single target DPS. I find myself having to spam only TK for long periods unless I want to run out of force at 30% into an encounter.
I'm thinking it's not worth using instant disturbances and maybe even not mind crush. But at that point, why even play the spec? http://youtube.com/faction60 |

RE: Madness/Balance Sorcerer DPS Compendium
Quote:I'm thinking it's not worth using instant disturbances and maybe even not mind crush. But at that point, why even play the spec? As I said in the OP, Disturbance (Lightning Strike) isn't worth using a Telekinetic Balance (Wrath) proc on. Mind Crush (Crushing Darkness) definitely is, however. Please ensure you've read the rest of the thread, particularly the OP, before replying. As for force issues, Crushing Darkness (w/ Wrath) costs 40 force/gcd, Affliction costs 35/gcd, and Force Lightning costs 2/gcd (including Electric Induction and Sith Efficacy). Base regen is 12/gcd. Thus CD costs 28/gcd, Affliction costs 23/gcd, and FL costs -10/gcd. If everything is used for maximum uptime (ignoring collisions for the sake of simplicity), that gives us 28*(1/10) + 23*(1/14) + (1 - 1/14 - 1/10) = ~4 force per GCD surplus on average. I have trouble believing that collisions result in a loss of more than 4 force per global on average. Adding CT to the mix doesn't sizeably change anything either, dropping average surplus down to ~3.75 per second. Not sure what you're doing to kill your force pool so quickly, but the base rotation of Madness (ie. only using Wrath procs on CD, not on Chain Lightning) is definitely force positive. The idea is to use Chain Lightning as a mix-in during periods needing higher dps, and skip Chain Lightning as a sort of lower dps "recovery stage". Even Angels must kill from time to time...

RE: Madness/Balance Sorcerer DPS Compendium
A few people say 13/28 is better dps than 3/7/31. Are there other tools other than a spreadsheet to compare?
Does the talent that makes Affliction last two more tics Increase damage or just make the dot last longer. Ashstorm - Sorcerer http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/character/8a...f065cdb66b Ashtech - Powertech http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/character/86...e5f049799e |

Quote:A few people say 13/28 is better dps than 3/7/31. Are there other tools other than a spreadsheet to compare? Not as of yet. I'm working on a sim, but I spent the last two weeks leveling like a maniac, hitting 50 just hours before I left town, and I won't be back in town until the 30th or so. Give me a couple more weeks to finish it up, now that I don't feel like I need to spend every waking moment playing, and I'll have it out and ready. Quote:Does the talent that makes Affliction last two more tics Increase damage or just make the dot last longer. As with all DoTs, the damage data is stored per tick rather than total, so extending the duration adds damage. In the case of Affliction, this increases total damage by 40% (7 ticks instead of 5). Even Angels must kill from time to time...
