Quote:I think there is a mistake in your values for WP (sorry)
aktually Advanced Aptitude Mod 25 got 48WP, which gives us a weights of 81.3
and now the
Advanced Aptitude Mod 24: 27 End, 45 WP, 34 Pow = 75.6
is even better than the Advanced Aptitude Mod 25A

Damn, fat-fingered the data entry and didn't double-check it. I stand corrected.

Any chance the gearing section in the original post could be update with what we know now?

While this is a decent suggestion, what would you change/add? Perhaps listing the best mod and surge items would be good, since that is a common question. I also think BiS listing should be removed, except for the Relic slot order, that seems useful to keep.

For example, an Item Modifications section (as of 1.1.5 patch) would be useful:
Best Armoring
Resolve Armor 25: 61 WP, ~40 End from HM KP/EV
Best Mod (as of 1.1)
Advanced Aptitude 25: 29 End, 48 WP, 37 Power
Useful Enhancements (as of 1.1, this depends on your stats)
34 Power, 48 Surge from IA Columi/Champion Enforcer Gloves/Helm
34 Crit, 48 Surge from Sorcerer Force-Master Gloves/Helm and other items
Battle 25: 37 Crit, 51 Surge from HM raid drops
Augment
28 Willpower from Slicing

I did notice that the Rakata stim section is incorrect, it is 112 willpower now.

I'd put some numbers in for stat weighting instead of the string of "X>Y>Z". I realize stat weighting is a dynamic thing, but we can generalize some numbers off a baseline.

Not really. The only thing that can easily be generalized is broad ranges of recommended rating values for each stat. Values like Crit EP = 0.75 are not just inaccurate, they are quite literally deliberately misleading. Beyond that, stat weights don't necessarily help, as the better view of gearing comes from knowing the points at which the stats are balanced against each other (which are rather difficult to compute).

Honestly, I'm considering even removing the X>Y>Z portion and just adding in "Recommend X between # and #" or "Recommend X no higher than #".

In any case, I'm working on a 1.2 revamp of this thread, in which the item section with receive a large overhaul.

I love this thread but I agree that we need to start fresh. Put a lot of what we've all discussed in a more concise, organized manner on the first post and let it grow as the game changes.

RE: Madness/Balance Sorcerer DPS Compendium
Instead of a revamp, how about locking it and starting a new thread when patch 1.2 hits? That seems to work well so people can search for more current issues.

RE: Madness/Balance Sorcerer DPS Compendium
Frmorrison, that's what we're doing, kinda. We're going to be splitting all replies off of the main post into a locked archive thread (for the sake of reference down the line), then rebuilding the OP of the compendium with the new guide, and posting a major update list in an immediate reply. We'll be doing this for all of the compendium on this site come 1.2.

RE: Madness/Balance Sorcerer DPS Compendium
Hello there, I've been lurking on the forum for a few months now and finally just made an account.

Anyways, I noticed there hasn't been much discussion of the 0/17/24 Lightning Effusion build in the first post. How does that one stack up with 0/13/28, before and after double-dipping gets fixed? The spreadsheet is showing them within ~1% of each other, but I'd like to double-check that with someone who knows how to work SimulationCraft.

I am TIRED of these nerf-herding Jedi on this nerf-herding ship!

It's roughly the same as 7/18/16 in dps output, so lower than 13/28 both before and after 1.2's double-dip fix.
