Hello,

This is my first post here and after managing to collect most BIS items for my full Balance Sage, I'm trying to customize my gear so I can increase my overall output in DPS.

The question I have for you regards the comparison between Surge and Alacrity. I already know that Alacrity at this point, and especially for my spec (since it only affects Telekinetic Throw for me), is kinda useless to focus on, but I don't know if trying to improve Critical Multiplier over 75% is worth it.

For example, this is my character http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/character/11...fbe1e27c31 and I have 444 Surge Rating (78.08%), which is really close to the Max Surge Rating you can get with the T1 Operations Gear. Removing 51 Surge Rating by replacing the Rakata Stalker's Implant gets me to 77.34% Critical Multiplier, which according to my math is a really really low reduction to my overall DPS. So the question I have is :

Should I move my Critical Multiplier to 75%, and improve my Activation Speed with Alacrity (Remove 150 Surge Rating and replace it with 150 Alacrity) ?T

i think you should take out all your 61 wp 11 power/crit mods and change them to the 48 wp 37 power mod that would probably up your dps the most.
i believe the columi ear piece with aug slot is better than the rakata ear piece as well. this is probably true for the implants as well if you can get the aug slot ones and in doing so it would also drop your surge for some alacrity.

edit: i just changed all the mods and enhancements and the ear pieces/implants per my suggestion in your profile and the new stats are this
bonus damage: 814.4
crit chance: 33.02%
critical multiplier: 76.29%
activation speed: 4.88%

i think it's the best possible stats currently outside of changing all the 24 surge enhancements to 25 ones which is pretty hard to do imo

There is a bis thread that has a link to the best Gear. The answer was to have about 250 surge 250 alacrity. Note Rakata gear is getting buffed so save the original mods and out them back before patch day.

I recently changed most of my 48wp 37crit, to 61wp 11crit/power. According to simulationcraft.org and logic WP>Power.

As for the Columi Relay with an augment, is sth i've been trying to get for a week, but our crafter is unlucky Tongue. The Implants are the ones I've been thinking to replace with Columi with augments and that's why I made this post.

There was no such nerf. The game files show the exact same base damage and coefficient data in live and on the PTS as they did a month ago. If you have evidence otherwise, please provide links and details.

My guess is that blackfrost is talking about "damage over time abilities no longer prevent players from capturing [PvP] objectives." While not a class change, it could technically be considered a slight PvP nerf to any class with a spammable DoT (i.e.- theoretically you used to be able to just stick Affliction on everyone in Alderaan/Voidstar and then hide in the corner until it's time to start reapplying, thereby keeping anyone from capping (unless the Purges start flying of course)).

Note the hybrid dps spec in 1.2 is 1/12/28, so you are losing 10% surge on DoTs/DF and 1% crit. You lose about 2% of your dps missing both points.

His original post seemed to imply there was a coefficient nerf to Lightning Strike, which most certainly has not occurred, at least according to the game files (which granted don't necessarily reflect server-side values).

I can definitely live with 1% in exchange for Bindings. Still won't be as fun as Chain Lightning though...Sad
