What the hell are proton missiles for anyway? you can one-shot something, but why? The shielded stuff, like the command deck on top of the big starship or the antenna at the bottom of the space station?

Proton missiles are pretty useless, they actually make the Cloud of Verandu mission more difficult since when attacking the shields, it doesn't allow normal missiles to be fired, but asks for proton ones to be done instead. I have had my protons equipped for one mission ever, now they're sitting in my bank.

And you can kill the command deck or the starship antenna without protons, it just takes like 20 regular missiles to do it. But be warned, doing this can cause the game to CTD. So, I've stopped doing it for the time being.

This was addressed in the Public Test Server patch notes, so hopefully it'll be fixed real soon Smile. Last night, I tested it on live and my comp did not crash ... I don't know if it's been fixed or if I was just lucky, though.

Hell, the last 3 patches have claimed to have fixed the disappearing chat bug and the fubar'd guild member display bug. Both are still broke.

Even Angels must kill from time to time...

RE: Space Missions
Killing the space station antenna no longer crashes my comp ... or at least, it hasn't yet since the patch.

RE: Space Missions
Hello folks,

didn´t have any problem with space combat until now: sullust interception is a pain in the ***. After the first carrier, there are tons of enemies that fly towards u and if i dont use my EWP, i just have to roll around and its pretty hard to hit anything while doing that (just barrel rolling while aming at enemies doesn´t help at all). And even if i do use it, i do not hit enough enemies. So i am pretty much alive at the end of the mission, but end up having killed too few enemies. and having blue grade 4 upgrades, i feel a little ashamed.Huh

tips anyone?

edit: using w,a,s,d keys while aiming + barrel roll might solve this problem =)

Greetz

Yeah, I don't use wasd to move anymore. Mostly because I'm lazy. Hyyuga, you do need to save your EWM for that moment, make sure you divert all power to blasters while it's up, and go crazy with missiles while you're at it. I know the part you're talking about and it's pretty rough. If all else fails, you can always come back with grade 5/6 upgrades.

RE: Space Missions
I find the proton torpedo and the short range discharge to be useless. Don't have them and I get all the bonus objectiveness (including hidden) for all the L45/48 missions.

The only tips I have are the following:
- make good use of your power converter! it's the secret to victory for a lot of missions where you do not yet have part upgrades

- on the second escort mission after you pass through the asteroid field there is a frigate that comes out of the top left, you need to hit this guy hard with missiles as he is only on screen for a few seconds and if you dont severely damage him you will lose the mission due to the (assumed drunk) pilot running into asteroids

- on sullest interception (apologies if the missions are named different for republic) you need to buy the emp and use it shortly after you finish your first pass at the cruiser. More specifically you want to go in with as much shield as possible (hit the power converter immediately after your pass on the capital ship), blow up the heavy fighter with missiles first and then continue to use them until the two waves of little guys is over

- said before but on clouds of vorondu you need to really target all the frigates and fighters as the danger in this mission comes not from being unable to destroy the capital ship targets but rather being killed by all the little ships and frigates protecting it

thanks for the tips. i think the most important thing for me is to find the right timing for ewp in sullust interception after the first carrier, because it only lasts for 10 seconds.

Wait until your shields are down and your hull starts dropping. Also, try to unload on the elite fighter the pulls just ahead of you as it starts.

I paid attention as I ran that mission this time around and I have to say that the damage intake during that brief spurt is higher than any other place in the game short of driving yourself into an asteroid. You're right to have difficulty at that point. I didn't run that mission until I have a couple pieces of Grade 5.
