LS/DS alignment

You can't solo him at level if you leave the captain alive, but you can certainly solo him at higher levels either way. Once you hit about level 20, nothing in there can even land a blow on you.

I hit 10k DS points like 2 days ago and was wondering if there is anything special I can buy? I know there is a vendor on the Imperial Fleet, but he doesn't sell me anything good. Are there no fully moddable cloths I can use?

I also am rather upset that you miss out on gear if you want to play neutral. I intended to choose whatever I felt was right at the time, but now I've mostly gone with dark options. I figure my first alt will go light options, and eventually I'll play a toon that's legitimately whatever I want to answer at the time.

The vendors on the fleet is the only vendor I am aware of.

I think the point of the dialogue and making decisions is to affect your gameplay. Noone is "truly" neutral, not even in real life. The decisions you make always affect your life... I think that is the point of the LS/DS points...

You're missing the point. They are punishing those that don't walk a strict dark or lightside path. Those that make the decisions on quests based on what they feel about the issue (or how they think their character might feel, if they are roleplaying a different personality), rather than based on what icon is next to the option, see rather distinct penalties at end-game (and in fact, to an extent all through leveling) because they aren't maximizing their alignment in one direction. "Neutral" doesn't mean not making decisions that affect your life, it means that on average you make just as many good-morality decisions as bad-morality ones. The fact that the game specifically discourages this is a major roadblock toward the "play as you want" mentality Bioware is trying to espouse.

I just gave up and if i don't know which to choose, I take the DS choice. The real endgame gear seems to be free of alignment ranks. it's just vehicles and other flavor items that need a rank. You just end up with really low lvl relics or no relics at all during lvling.

Besides relics, I have yet to see any real punishment for neutral players. (You can get 1 nice relic via matrix shards though)

As a neutral player you gain the advantage of being able to use all color crystals (that I have seen so far).

I haven't run hard mode flashpoints / OPs yet so there certainly might be more LS/DS restricted items, but so far they seem fairly sparse.

Is the first flashpoint the best way for a max level character at 50 who has finished Correlia to gain light/dark points? Does anyone know offhand how much a single run through can give if you choose all light or all dark options?

edit: Just did a quick run through, got 250 light side points on Republic side's Eseless.
