RE: Scoundrel/Operative Healing Compendium
I've been asked to step up as a healer to fill needs with the guild I've been raiding with as of late. Moving from a tanking full-time position to a healing position is definitely interesting. I've done pretty well keeping up on the basic mechanics for Op healing and wouldn't call myself a novice in any means, but with 1.2 out, I'm looking for some concrete theories regarding Alacrity.
Prior to 1.2, common knowledge said that Alacrity was generally a bad stat due to energy management; even more so for HoT focused Ops healers like myself. However, with the change to Surge and cast times, is Alacrity finding a small niche into our stat priority. I ask this for two reasons: first, being 4/5 Rakata, I'm finding that everything is stacked with Alacrity; and second, in previous gear, I shaved off every ounce of Alacrity for Surge (putting me DEEP into the Surge DR (461 Surge = 79.x%; losing 200 Surge keeps me +75%). Prior to the other night, I was planning on replacing most of my Power/Surge and Crit/Surge enhancements with Advanced Reflective Enhancement 22 (18 End/39 Shield/27 Power/27 Crit). I know what you're thinking, "Shield, WTF you need that for?!" However, this enhancement is the ONLY enhancement that has BOTH Power and Crit, and, when compared to many of the enhancements in the Columi/Rakata gear (which is Endurance heavy) the returns via Crit and Power on this 22 exceeds that of the 'superior' 24s/25s. That said, I can effectively shave my Surge down so that I'm not heavy in DR by gaining significant amounts of Power and Crit in it's place. The trick here, though, is that doing this will start putting me deep into the Crit DR. Considering this, should Alacrity be considered to around 10%, or should I still shave it off and go deep into Crit/Surge DR due to the fact that more Crit/Surge is still more Crit/Surge? I can't see any 'real' changes to us in 1.2 that warrants adding Alacrity, but I am aware that 'some' additional speed will help in those rare (but becoming more frequent) "oh crap" moments. I hate to necro the old discussion, but has there been any change? |
