Athiss
Level: Lower-level Republic/Empire Flashpoint (20-24)
Location: Republic Fleet/Empire Fleet Encounters: Professor Ley'arsha The Beast of Vodal Kressh Prophet of Vodal Crew Skill Shortcuts: Bosses: Professor Ley'arsha Professor Ley'arsha is the first boss in the Athiss Flashpoint. She starts the fight with three adds up, and will summon more in waves as the fight progresses. Ley'arsha also casts a poison effect on the ground (called Affliction Field) which damages players standing in it, and a conal AoE blaster attack (Blaster Volley) that will damage every player in your group. Videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pla...D4Mhoj0s#! (7:30) Tips/Tricks: The trick to this fight is, as usual, to burn the adds when they spawn, and watch your feet. Adds come fairly often during this fight, so expect to spend a good amount of time on them. Move out of the poison on the ground, and keep the boss facing away from the group. While the adds generally don't need to be tanked (as long as they are DPSd), do be aware that they can pile up pretty quickly, and if they're all on the healer it's likely that someone is going to die. DPS should do their best to get the adds of the healer first. The Beast of Vodal Kressh The Beast of Vodal Kressh is the second boss in the Athiss Flashpoint. With only three abilities, the Beast of Vodal is a relatively simple fight. From time to time, the boss will spawn adds that do tend to run straight for the healer. These should be DPSd down quickly. The Beast of Vodal will also cast a fear (Intimidating Roar) every 30 seconds, causing players to be paralyzed for a few seconds. The Beast will also knock back the tank (and anyone near them) from time to time, sending them across the encounter area. Videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pla...D4Mhoj0s#! (17:00) Tips/Tricks: This fight can be very tricky, and is probably the hardest fight in the Athiss FP. While the fight is straight forward - kill the adds, kill the boss - the paralyze and knockback mechanics can make it a little more difficult then it seems. Tanking the boss next to the door/archway that is opposite where you pull him from seems to be the best way to do this fight. The tank should put their back to the wall, and the dps/healers should stand at the 5:00 or 7:00 position, oriented with the tank/bosses head being 12:00. The reason for this is because when the adds spawn they will almost always go for the healer, and when the tank is getting knocked back in one direction, and the healer paralyzed at a different location, it can be very hard to keep people healed. By positioning yourselves so that the dps/heals don't get knocked back, and the tank is in easy range of the adds, you will maximize your chance to defeat this boss. While adds that spawn in the Beast of Vodal Kressh fight don't need to be tanked if they are DPS'd down quickly enough, it's probably a good idea to do so. 3 - 6 adds can be up at a time, and even having 2 or 3 on the healer can mean a quick wipe. Prophet of Vodal The Prophet of Vodal is the third and final boss in Athiss. He has two basic mechanics. The fight feels like a typical "tank and spank" to start with, with the boss melee attacking the tank, and not much else. Every 15 seconds though, the Prophet of Vodal will cast a debuff (Crushing Affliction) that will do about 75% of a players HP in damage over 5 seconds, culminating in an AoE explosion that will damage them, and anyone near them for another 10 - 15% of their life. After the fight progresses, the Prophet will cast the ability Soul Rend on a player, and will then disappear. In his place, two red orbs (Living Fire) will spawn, and they will chase the player around. These adds can be attacked but not damaged, and the target just has to kite them around until the boss returns. If the orbs hit the target, they will explode with a lot of AoE damage, and getting hit by 2 of them at once will likely kill you. Videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pla...D4Mhoj0s#! (44:00) Tips/Tricks: The first, and most important tip on this fight is to dispel. The crushing affliction debuff can, and should, be dispelled every time it's cast. This can be tricky because it is hard to see on raid frames, but it will save a lot of healing mana, and potentially a wipe. If you miss a dispell, be sure to heal that player back up to full, because without 100% HP the Crushing Affliction debuff will kill someone. When the Prophet reappears from casting Soul Rend he will have generally reset his aggro. The threat players generate in the Soul Rend phase does seem to stay with them, so everyone should be mindful of that, and heal/attack as little as possible, so that they tank can pick the boss up again. Fortunately, the boss itself is very weak and can be tanked by any member of the group, it is the debuff and the living fire adds that have the capability to kill players. |

RE: Athiss
Athiss is a fun flashpoint , main thing to worry about here is to cc the adds furthest way from the pack. Pulls can range anywhere from 5 to 6 mobs so it's important to keep as many locked down as possible.
First boss is all about add management, they come out pretty frequently and I found that it was best for myself to grab them since they seemed to hit pretty hard. At the point of the adds coming out you should already have enough threat on the boss so dropping off and getting the adds shouldn't be an issue. The boss does a huge knockback so make sure you fight him where he is, first time I went there this guy was kiting him which wasn't a good idea since adds were still up and he ended up pulling a lot of adds. So basically add management and tank him where he is The 2nd boss is pretty simple, just make sure you pick up the adds and stay out of some crap she puts on the floor. She summons adds as well so just pick them up and then go back and kill her Third boss is all about about the healer, the boss does a huge dot that if not taken care of will kill whoever has it so the healer needs to make sure to keep them up. This boss will also summon fire orbs that are easy to avoid, best strat I found was to tank him on the stairs and when the fire came out just run down to the right and circle the room. I believe the fire targets someone so if you're targeted make sure to keep away from them. It doesn't help the healer to have to heal you from that easy avoidable damage. The main issue for the tank here is to make sure to use unbreakable will as soon as he starts channeling lightning at you, the damage is pretty severe so breaking out of it early will really help out the group. |

RE: Athiss
Crushing Affliction cast is fast (1 or 1.5 sec) but is interruptable. Makes healers job a hell easier if DPS/Tank interrupt it as much as possible.
With a 3-man rotation we were able to prevent him from casting it at all. 2 players with appropriately talented (or natively short cd interrupts) could prolly keep him from casting it too. Soul Rend is interruptable too (very, very very short cast) and doing so causes the boss to bug and not to attack you at all until next Soul Crush cast. We were unable to reproduce this though, the one time this happened was a lucky interrupt. |

RE: Athiss
They changed this dramatically since beta.
Major changes: Final boss is uninterruptible, but crushing affliction only does 50% health before explosion. Fireballs spawn 2 from the front, 2 from the back of the room, and aggro is not reset. Fairly easy. 2nd boss still has the big knockbacks, but adds come much more sparsely Didn't notice any differences from 1st. Overall, the flashpoint is WAY easier |

While the fight is easier since beta, I found that having the tank Guard the person who got Crushing Affliction helped the healer out enough to keep the group topped off. |
