If you've tried all the software fixes out there and they haven't worked, unfortunately the only other thing left is hardware. My guess is either not enough RAM, or the video card isn't up to task. However, I'm certainly no expert, so maybe someone smarter than me can confirm/reject this?

Bloom effect checkbox is greyed out in game (but turned on). And changing the .ini file doesn't help because the game reverts it back to = true when I log in.

Help?!

I noticed while fooling around with the gfx settings that when I changed shadow quality to low, bloom got disabled. When I changed shadows back to high, bloom was enabled.

Well first of all, with a card like that, you should have bloom and shadows off. Everything will need to be set to low, because if you don't have a Gb of video ram, the game will stutter as it loads textures. Also turn off AA and lower your resolution if you haven't already.

Three tips:
Get the latest video card drivers from your manufacturer

Turn on Windows XP SP3 Mode (right click the launcher and go to compatibility tab)

Disable GPU Scaling in the nVidia control panel (assuming your desktop resolution is different than your game resolution, otherwise ignore)

Saw that on Red Rancor yesterday. I never thought to try adjusting scaling before so I'm going to see if there is any impact on frames if I change it.

RE: [SWTOR] Low Framerate Issues
Wondering if anybody could help me out here. Currently playing on a partitioned 2009 Macbook Pro (4GB RAM, Nvidia 9400M graphics card) using Windows 7. I know these arent the greatest specs, but I am getting between 3 and 5 FPS on all of the lowest settings (shadows off/convo depth of field off/etc). I have everything in nvidia control panel optomized for performance, the entire computer is optomized for performance (disabling things that eat up the proccessor etc). I know that it CAN run well cause it will go thru 20 minute periods of seemless gameplay, but then its back to being completely unplayable. Not even editing the .INI file to extremely low settings will do the trick for me. I have heard of other people playing on partioned macs like mine and it being just fine. I could really use some additional tips/tricks to help me make this playable. I dont care how poor the image quality is, as long as I can turn without the game freezing for a second for two, i would be happy as a clam. And yes, video card drivers etc are all up to date. Thank you!
