Cool, thanks. |

RE: Crew Skills Compendium
Has anyone managed to make good use of Armstech? I RE'd to get the schematic of a few weapons, but my blaster pistols are far better than the ones I can craft. Also, at least according to torhead, there's very little useful things we can craft at max level - the most useful being Advanced Barrels 23... but we can get those in Ilum for only 8 daily comms. Not to mention crafting those can be kind of hard, since they require mats found in Ops and hard mode FPs.
So has anyone had any luck, or did we all take the shaft? Also as a side question, anyone know how you obtain the schematics for Rakata items that are craftable through Armormech, e.g. Rakata Enforcer's Belt? |

RE: Crew Skills Compendium
A useful tip on companion affection: companions you gain later get more affection per conversation choice (but not per gift), so it's worth thinking about which companion you want to have out at any given time. I started bringing out Skadge (or one of the others if he was busy on a mission) when I was close to maxing Mako, but if I did it over I'd probably have been swapping in my most recent companion whenever there was chatting to NPCs to be done.

Yup, that multiplier is in the game files. This gdoc sheet has the multipliers (I added them a couple days ago direct from the game files): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ar?&...tfe=ob_346 Even Angels must kill from time to time...

RE: Crew Skills Compendium
Just a little advice based on what I've experienced in terms of crew skills. A couple of them use scavenging as their main source of materials, whilst they have underworld trading as their secondary source - one which brings materials for higher quality items (blue, custom, artifact). In the current situation the materials gained form underworld trading are gained by slow missions and rarely more than 2-8 at a time. If you play on a lower populated server you'll find there's a vast shortage on these particular materials, and though slicing (at least on lower levels, considering the rate at which it scales) is great for building credits, it's absolutely adviced to grab underworld trading as your third crew skill.
My main had cybertech, scavenging and slicing since release, all of them maxed (400), and I found acquiring some of the underworld trading materials to be either ridiculously expensive or just plain impossible. I powerlevelled underworld trading (running 5 missions simultaneously for a while) and started selling some of the hard-to-obtain pieces such as ship upgrades and whatnot. The combination makes for a lot of higher quality mods, ship upgrades, speeders and earpieces - and as such brought in a lot of credits if moved correctly (GTM/Trade etc) and helps upgrading all your customizable gear along the way - not to mention creating a sufficient amount of blue quality mods to reverse-engineer in order to get the artifact schematics. TL;DR: If your crafting skill uses underworld trading, be sure to train it. It'll benefit you vastly in the end. Also: Given the nerfbat slicing has taken recently, it's not as worthwhile a crew skill as it was before. It was always balanced on the higher levels, but given the way it scaled, being able to do high level missions on lower levels, it would bring tons of credits while leveling up your character. Sure, it's still a decent crew skill, but reaching the higher levels it might be more convenient to pick up something else. |

Equip an orange weapon, and always keep it upgraded with the highest level blue quality barrel you can equip. The difference is phenomenal. I've saved hours of frustration since I figured this out; I don't even normally use cooldowns while questing anymore. |

RE: Crew Skills Compendium
Steve, the thing is, you can do that from commendations instead. A new hilt or barrel costs only 7 commendations on each planet, and they are of blue quality, often requiring a a level near the upper end of that planet's range, meaning you're always stocked with the best of the best. Hell, even at end game, this is true. You can get a 126 rating epic grade-23 hilt or barrel (of any of the types in the game) for only 8 Daily Commendations from Ilum. You get close to 20 the first day, and ~10 per day thereafter.

You get close to 20 the first day, and ~10 per day thereafter. The dailies actually make all mods obsolete pretty quickly. The best I've seen from any craft is the green level 22 mods to purchase, which you can then RE into epic level 22's. But, from the daily 2 or 4 player quests, here is what you can get: Level 22 Armor modification (appropriate choices for your class) - Belsalvis daily 4 man quest Level 22 Mod (appropriate choices for your class) - Belsalvis daily 2 man quest Level 22 Enhancement (appropriate choices) - Ilum daily 2 man quest Then from the Daily Commendations vendors in Ilum and Belsalvis Level 23 Armor Modifications - 8 Daily Commendations Level 23 Hilt/Barrel Modifications - 8 Daily Commendations And doing all of the dailies each will award I think 15-16 once they're all opened up between Ilum and Belsalvis. This essentially means that reverse engineering any modification, armoring, hilt or enhancement is essentially worthless, because you can get the items faster for less resources. And to top it all off, once you have all of the ones you want, the rewards are not BoP, so you can simply sell them on the Galactic Market as well. About the only thing that will be worth RE'ing will be crystals, but there are only two options for each color, so those will get flooded on the markets pretty quickly. |

RE: Crew Skills Compendium
The advantage of using trade skills is that you can do this literally every other level with only the investment of leveling your trade skill. That would be a lot of commendation investment to buy ~20 barrels while leveling. Also, you don't have to run back to the vendor.
My gear was awful from 25-30, and I figured it was just the game ramping up the difficulty - I was blowing all my cooldowns and finishing any elite fight with ~5% health. I upgraded properly and now I'm facerolling like I'm level five again. Not a big deal either way, and endgame/Ilum is a totally different beast. They nerfed Slicing; I'll bet they boost equipment craft skills once everyone rerolls biochem. |

(01-04-2012 02:39 AM)Ruslyn Wrote: Then from the Daily Commendations vendors in Ilum and Belsalvis Armstech can craft level 23 barrels. You need to get the schematic probably from Ops, and use a Biometric Crystal Alloy (mat that drops from normal mode Ops and hard mode FPs) for each barrel. Good stuff. And daily comms are 13 for solo quests, 6 for heroic 2+, and 6 for heroic 4s. So you can get 25 per day. |
