THANK YOU for this thread it is one of the few out there with any kinda discussion on DPS roles for Powertech. Oyxl you kick ass for testing that and I totally agree with you been using it for the last couple does and the boost from having "Hot Iron" is really nice. I am also way happier using this Pyrotech spec over the AP spec I was using leveling, the chain railshots just blows things up even in pvp it hits insanely hard.

Keep in mind that I haven't actually been able to test the "real" numbers in combat and the analysis is based on a few assumptions. Other than that, I do really believe that at the end of the line, Flame Burst is better than Thermal Detonator, due to it's various (very powerful) procs and crit-chance. It's a pity we don't have exact numbers on damage reduction through armor (yet), or simply a target dummy. I'm personally not lvl 50 yet, so I'm reluctant to calculate base armor values for npc's. They might vary with levels. Edit: I've also edited my previous post to reflect the fact that I took a combination of two specs to show a semi-accurate comparison. |

Yeah I cant wait for a combat log of some sort to manifest it would really really help with the growing amount of questions we have. Esp when my guildies are like why arnt you TANK wtf BRO.
Also the main issue I have with getting TD is you have to either get Automated Defenses, Energy Rebounder, Infrared Sensors, or Sweltering Heat to even get it which are completely wasted skillpoints compared to Hot Iron and Intimidation. |

I'm also planning on experimenting with the following build, as soon as I do get to 50.

Missile debuff - Flame Burst procs free Rocket Punches - Flame Burst and Rocket Punch proc free Rail Shot - free Rail Shots on burning targets vent 8 heat - when overheating (40+) switch to High Energy Gass Cylinder There's a few wasted talent points, so I'm in doubt about damage output, but than again, there's so much heat venting, that it should allow you to replace nearly all Rapid Fire. Theoretically. |

One think I am slightly puzzled by is why aim seems to have a diminishing return for crit % I am probably just doing the math wrong but w/e thought I would post here and ask for help on this one considering crit is by far our best sub-stat and if it gets DR early on like this maybe switch to more power would be better at a point. I mean it could just be the tooltip is wrong also.
I am using (percent/aim)*100 for getting the multiplier which gels with what I see in-game I guess. with gear on aim totals total = 1,448.00 | base = 250.00 | bonus = 1,198.00 ranged/tech crit = 9.74% | multiplier = ~0.67 with gear off aim totals total = 252.00 | base = 250.00 | bonus = 2.00 ranged/tech crit = 1.98% | multiplier = ~0.79 |

I'm in a bit of a hurry, but, did you calculate including the base 5%?
So it's basically ((total - 5)/aim) * 100. Although, the base might be derived from base aim. Obviously. gah. I'll look into it better later on. |

I noticed you took care of the 5% in your calculation. I think we do have deminishing returns based on your results. I'lll check mine this afternoon.

yeah I gotta stop trying to do math late at night lol, I was specifically looking just at aim as I was thinking about if the 9% aim talent is worth the points with the amount we are going to end up having in a little while. With almost 1500 already with just a few pieces of normal 8 man gear and a few hardmode flashpoints we could end up with a lot in the end and 9% could be a decent amount.

I think I will try adjusting it slightly for one I am not sure whether high energy cylinder is even needed, second hitman is probably pretty useful as in raiding so far you want to interupt a lot of stuff |
