On http://www.torhead.com/ability/7R6XkF3 I'm seeing 15 energy cost for Laceration and none for Collateral Strike. So I'm a little confused on the 30 energy requirement. And if that's an error, does that give Laceration a whole new status on the priority list?

I think (s)he is lumping together the 15 energy for Laceration with the 15 from Shiv needed to get the TA for Laceration to consume.

This is correct. You can never use Lacertion without Shiv for Tactical Advantage first, unless you kill an opponent, which won't happen while concentrating dps on a boss. Adds may die and give you a free TA, but that is the exception, not the rule imo.

I'm sorry mate but I'm a little confused as to what the actual question is. Are you asking what a hybrid build is? Or are you asking if there are any viable hybrid builds for the opertaive/scoundrel advanced class for operations DPS?

Keep in mind that this thread only addresses PvE operations DPS and if you're enquiries are pvp related, you need to post your queires here please.

Operatives and Scoundrels are mirrors of each other. Therefore what works for Operatives will work for Scoundrels once you translate the abilities and skills from the Empire class to the Republic class. There is no functional difference between Operatives and Scoundrels (only cosmetic differences)...because they are functionally the same, we group the guides into one thread to save space. Hence Operative/Scoundrel DPS Compendium.

This is why you see Jedi Sage/Sith Sorcerer Telekinetics/Lightning (also Jedi Shado/Sith Assassin Infiltration/Deception), because the tree in question for Jedi Sages is Telekinetics, while for Sith Sorcerers it is the Lightning tree. Since they're the same functionally, the guide applies to both and is listed as Sage/Sorcerer Telekinetics/Lightning. It may be a bit confusing (personally I'd prefer to list them as Sage Telekinetics/Sorcerer Lightning) but the threads are all only for one spec, but they are applicable for both the Empire and Republic factions.

(no, not like the band GWAR, they suck and they're not Sith-y)

RE: Scoundrel/Operative DPS Compendium
One thing I am noticing in flashpoints is most boss mobs will automatically target me while in stealth and put a large targeting graphic on my character. If I don't break stealth within a few seconds, the encounter starts.

Is anyone else experiencing this behavior? If so, how are you combating it? Our suggested opener is to lead with Shoot First/Hidden Strike, and if we are unable to position ourselves behind a mob due to this behavior I am unsure how to accomplish this.

I have too. The only things I can think of off the top of my head are either to go into Stealth quite literally right before your tank initiates so he won't bother you (having to run to the boss also allows your tank to properly aggro the boss), or to use your Cloaking Screen as soon as the fight starts. The former is obviously preferable to the latter since you can save your Cloaking Screen for later.

RE: Scoundrel/Operative DPS Compendium
Firstly, great write up Sol, it has really pointed me in the right direction when building my Scoundrel.

I'm finding the best build for PVP and PVE at present (lvl 34) to be Dirty Fighting. The DoT's are deadly and there is a lot of room to move in and out of melee range to increase surivability.

My question is in relation to picking up Alacrity skills in the dirty fighting tree. Alacrity doesn't effect any of our damaging abilities, I believe it would be better to pick up Dirty Escape or Flash Powder even though situational they are actually some use.

Have you tried using Sneak before making your approach?

RE: Scoundrel/Operative DPS Compendium
Hello everyone,

Can anyone give me an update on Alacrity? Does it benefit instant abilities now that it affects activation time (GCD)?

Simply put it is useful for my Concealment Operative if it does else it´s worth nothing ...

And if it´s worth nothing crit should still be main secondary stat, right?

Appreciate the feedback

Cheers
