Imperial Agent & Smuggler - Simple Questions and Answers

Hello all. I apologize for going off topic but I wanted some honest answers about scoundrels from people who really know the class and not put up with the chicken little attitude from the SWTOR.com forums. I'm very intrigued by the scrapper and was wonder how their dps stands. Is it competitive? I'm not looking to beat out agents as I value being able to spec to heals over top dps. I also prefer mobility over being a slinger. I'm looking primarily at doing PVE.
