Yes, but it's classes that compete for gear, not advanced classes. If you have sorcs, 2 assassins, 2 snipers, and 2 operatives, that's worse than having 2 sorcs, 2 snipers, 2 mercs, and 2 maras, as far as gear competition goes. Having a mixed melee/ranged group is not necessarily good for gear competition.

Even Angels must kill from time to time...

That's only on normal mode. On Hard and Nightmare modes, loot is dropped normally from the boss and can be rolled on or handed out via Master Looter

Has anyone expierence with 16m hardmode difficulty?

We cleared 8m normal without any problems and will work on soa 8m HM this week.

But yesterday we started raiding as 16m and were quite surprised. The freeloot normal mode was quite difficult. We could clear it and 30% of our raid was underequipt. But the difference between 8m and 16m difficulty was quite huge.

1. Boss: 16m oneshoting in phase 1 with his rocket strike (hit random player with 19k); Maybe we didnt understand the mechanik completly, but in 8m we didnt even notice the damage.
3. Boss: This one is really a freeloot in 8m and we were quite surprised that we need some taktik to kill him n 16m

So has anyone expierence whether 16m HM is also more difficult than 8m HM?

Various people have said 16 man is overtuned. Patch 1.1 is supposed to adjust the tuning.
Normal mode 16 man is harder than 8 man hard mode/nightmare mode.

Has anyone noticed that the lockouts page now just shows Normal, Hard Mode, Nightmare Mode instead of having 3 difficulties for each raid size? Did I miss that they were linking lockouts?

That's not true... I ran a 16 man normal and an 8 man normal in the same raid lockout period about 2 weeks ago.
