RE: SWTOR formula list
Quote:How are channeled spells and dots handled by the formula... is it the total damage? Or the damage per dot tick/channel tick?
The values in the files give the damage per tick. This applies to both DoTs and channeled abilities.
Quote:Another issue (I do not have a sage myselves, so I cannot try out): The Sage has some talents which make a non-instant to an instant in certain circumstances, or which speed up channeling by factor two. Do I assume right that this will still cause the GCD (so a instant-made telekineticwave will still take 1.5 seconds, as well as a 2x speed telekinetic throw will be 1.5 seconds) ? Or am I wrong?
Correct. One important thing to note is that since the instacast version then triggers a 1.5 second GCD regardless of your Alacrity, this can actually decrease the DPCT of the spell being instacast. For example, let's take Disturbance as an example. It normally has a 1.5 second cast. Let's say you have 10% Alacrity from gear, and Mental Alacrity is active, total 30% Alacrity. That reduces the cast time to 1.05 seconds, meaning your DPCT is TotalDamage/1.05. If you instead instacast it using Presence of Mind (if you were silly enough to do so), it would instead trigger a 1.5 second GCD, reducing your DPCT to TotalDamage*1.2/1.5. That's a reduction in DPCT of 1.05/(1.5/1.2) = 0.84, or a 16% reduction in DPCT.
Quote:a) it speeds up normal casts
It affects channel duration, and reduces the time between ticks in proportion to the channel duration. For example, Force Lightning is normally a 3 second channel, ticking 4 times at 0.0, 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 seconds. With 20% Alacrity, Force Lightning becomes a 2.4 second cast, ticking at 0.0, 0.8, 1.6, and 2.4 seconds.
Alacrity also reduces the GCD for any cast time or channeled spell that falls under 1.5 seconds. The GCD of the spell is equal to either the modified cast time (if non-instant) or 1.5 seconds, whichever is less.
Quote:Another thing I am unsure about: If I have one talent raising dmg of a skill by 20%, and another one which raises it by 12%, is it
Some are the former, most are the latter. Same with stats. For example, Mark of Power
combines additively with the 6% Willpower bonus from the T1 Madness talent Will of the Sith for an 11% bonus (rather than the 1.05*1.06 = 11.3% bonus it would be if multiplicative). Generally speaking, if two effects do the same thing, they stack additively.
Mark of Power
Activation time: Instant
Cooldown: 6 secs
Mirror: Force Valor
Increases the target's strength, aim, willpower and cunning by 5% and internal and elemental damage reduction by 10% for 60 minutes. If the target is a party member, all other party members are also affected.
All 3 hit for the same amount. If you'll notice, the second one has FlurryBlowsMax=>2, meaning the damage is split amongst two blows. Flurry is only present on the basic attacks.
Quote:Does the nerf to surge apply to bosses/Npcs?
Er...what do you mean? The nerf was to surge rating, not to crit multiplier. If you mean do mobs crit for proportionally less due to the nerf, no.
Quote:I released this pre-surge nerf. I'll update when I can find the new formulas.
The new formula is in the OP. Cap changes to 30%, divisor to 0.11. Old was cap of 50%, divisor of 0.1.
Even Angels must kill from time to time...
