RE: My random Warzone tips
My only issue with the MVP system is it leads to "glory hunting", in random warzones people are far less likely to do the dull jobs of sitting on a flag/defending.

RE: My random Warzone tips
Hutt Ball strategy:
You are able to pass the ball to other players..DO THIS. A team that knows how to pass for gains almost always comes out on top. Several instances where this can really help: Passing to players on the catwalk from the middle of the field, from one catwalk level to another or from the pit/sidelines to someone waiting on the catwalk is always a pro move. One of the most effective strategies I've seen involved one player running the ball straight into the opposing teams pit, letting all of the enemies follow him down there, then tossing the ball up to a waiting stealther up at the opposition's goal line. *Quick addition: There is a 6 point slaughter rule that will end the game so with a really effective team this warzone can be over with much quicker than the original time limit. |

RE: My random Warzone tips
I actually noticed a team that got to 5:0 and just started holding the ball instead of scoring to allow additional kills to accrue. Is this worthwhile? (like honor farming back in WoW)
Even Angels must kill from time to time...

(like honor farming back in WoW) If you're with a premade I think it would be more beneficial to just end it via the slaughter rule to get into a new one because of the large bases of the rewarded valor, comm's, etc...but if you're just wanting to farm bodies go for it! Are HK's (honor kills) even tracked in this game? |

I don't know, but it's possible that a higher body count = better Valor rewards.

HKs are tracked, and it seems like the more you have the more Valor you get, as my guildie and I ran several warzones, and I had top heals while he had top dps each time, (with our damage and heal numbers being very similar) but it seemed like whichever of us had the most HKs got the most Valor points. Can't confirm 100% though. |

RE: My random Warzone tips
Oh lord, that is going to be bad news for random warzones. They are encouraging you to ignore the objectives and just have a brawl.

Apologies for getting off-topic. We're you also looking at the objectives scores between the two of you? I'm pretty sure the number of objectives obtained directly affects valor; MVP votes do as well. Either way there are a lot of variables to take in consideration and my hindsight is making me kick myself for not paying better attention during beta. I'm sure the details of all types of valor gain will be clarified soon after going live and we'd have a better idea as which method would be a better gain. As for now I'll try to do some research on what I can find out and will update this post if I find any new information. |

RE: My random Warzone tips
Its kinda dissapointing that "middlezone heroes" from WoW are getting more benefits in SWTOR than people who are doing objectives.
And u can easily test this , play one warzone and focus on objectives and play second one while going rambo style not caring for objectives and u will notice a huge difference in valor/medal awards |

We both stuck together, and defended/attacked the same objective. We were the top Valor earners each time, and we generally also had the most objectives complete. So I do think that is taken into account - and I think it's a larger part than HKs. It just seemed like, everything else being equal, whoever has the most HKs gets the most Valor. Which is cool. It just means every stat tracked on the stat board awards Valor - and that includes guarding people, healing, taking objectives, defending, etc. MVP is definitely something you'll want to get, and I do think the majority of players will award it to the person who was noticeably valuable. Not talking top HKs here, but the guy who saved the flag from being capped a couple times, fought off 3 guys by himself before reinforcements arrived, whatever. I think it'll encourage people to play for the objectives instead of the kills, especially since there are no achievements/awards/way to track the HKs. As a side note, it seemed the most reliable way to earn Valor was by getting medals. Whoever had the most medals always had the most Valor - which makes sense since you get medals for doing things - healing, damaging, killing, defending, etc. So I think the best way to get valor would be to knock out as many medals as you can each round. |
