RE: My random Warzone tips
Something I noticed while playing in Warzones in the Betas was that people didn't really seem to speak much if at all to their teammates during the battle. If there's one tip that i can add to this conversation, it is to talk to your team. A team that talks to each other knows what's going on and is in a better position to win the game which should be the ultimate goal.

RE: My random Warzone tips
There are multiple medals awarded for defending objectives in ACW, at least. Tactician for one defense, Strategist for three, off the top of my head.

RE: My random Warzone tips
When playing huttball, there is no need for circle strafing when someone isn't attacking you or if you are fighting another ranged player, it makes it very hard to pass the Huttball.

RE: My random Warzone tips
Note, this is copied from Reddit
The PvP vendor offers amazing gear at level 20 and level 40 blue and orange gear for very low cost that is better than anything else available at your level (typically).

In the Huttball warzone, knocking people into the poison pit or fire grates and then stunning them is a very efficient way to kill someone and/or reset the ball. Also knocking huttball carriers off the bridges and onto the bottom level of the Warzone is a tremendous way to help your team.

In Huttball, Inquisitors/Consulars can sprint across the pit at the beginning of the match to grab the ball faster than any other class. Be careful using this tactic though, you'll get pounced on hard by the other team.

In the Civil War warzone, make sure you always cap the node to your left first (great for Inquisitors/Consulars with the force speed buff). It is near impossible for the opposing faction to get there before you can cap it. Easy way to give your team a node right off the bat.

In the Void Star warzone, after the first set of doors has been blown down and the attackers must cross the bridge to advance to the second set of doors, it is very easy to throw players off the bridge using abilities that knockback (Overload for example).

I heard this, so I don't know if it is true or very useful but typing /stuck in PvP may bring you back to your base instantly and not be killed.

RE: My random Warzone tips
As a marauder, the undying rage + stimpack combo is extremely strong. When you are low health, charge to a group of players and use it. They instantly change focus to you without knowing that you are unkillable, intimidating roar + change of focus makes the ball carriers work way easier. Also try lurking around the enemy healing buffs. You can do your 1v1 medal, draw enemies away from the objective and still be in range to charge up the catwalk and get a pass. But never forget that staying alive to play the objective is more important than kills.

Also use berserk versus healers, predation versus anyone else. Berserk makes interrupting more reliable.

If you have some sort of stealth and you just got the ball near your base while being outnumbered, vanish and reset it. If you are not, throw it away to reset it. No point in holding it or trusting someone else to get it out of the area. Against a premade, there will be some enemy waiting at the ball spawn, won't change much, but against pugs, most of the time, you team is most likely farming kills around the spawn, while the enemy team's objective players just lost the ball near your area. Chances are that the zeros will become heroes and win the game for you.

It's always a good idea to be a target for the guys that pull you into acid if you can take it and survive. If you are not the ball carrier, make the enemy waste cooldowns that have high potential to stop the team from scoring is pretty much the next best thing. Don't be the whiner, be the game changer.

Find a setup that will give you 3-4 fast medals. I can take the 2.5k healing, 2.5k hit and killing blow in the first clash. The 1v1 is good as well, and very likely if you target an underleveled healer. A lot of underleveled players feel the need to prove they are not worthless, so they will continue healing those high levels and suicide for the greater good. Which means +1 medal for you. All the other medals come from teamplay, so it's pretty much the silver lining.

RE: My random Warzone tips
1) If you can duo queue at least healer + tank, once you know the huttball is won, you can both stay on acid so you can just up your prot/healing pretty easily.

2) You can score easily score in huttball using a stealth guy near the goal line, another one taking the ball and just sprinting to the pit to pass.

3) Fire is your best ally to kill tough targets in huttball, btw tanks are your worst nightmare if they are played properly, jugger are higly effective attackers since they have both charge and intervention, Powertech are great for def with grapple and charge.

4) For what I've seen lately in team, it's more effective to actually score 5:0, have at least 5 medals for each of the member of your group, score final goal, mvp each other, then queue again. Of course it's even more effective with low queue time and good computers.

5) As healer try to get easy medals such as last hitting someone and getting 10 kills, think about assisting dps sometime, landing stuns on people on fire etc... Try to do it without blowing up the game and you can easily have 2-3 more medals with adding fun to your gameplay.

RE: My random Warzone tips
I know many players dont wanna hear it:

Play for medals! 1 medal gives you 50 valor. Its possible for every class to get 10 medals = 500 bonus valor.
Know those medals and how to achieve them:

1 killing blow = easy; you only have to focus as healer, to get 1 killing blow
1 solo kill = not really easy, because most of the time some teammates will "help" you. Try to get 1 solo fight (if you arnt well equiped, use all cd's to ensure the kill and to kill fast!)
75k dmg= easy as dd and tank; needs some focus as healer, but also easy to achieve.
10; 25 kills = aoe every player, even as healer its only 1 gcd.

Defense
1k defense points: Quite easy in alderan and voidstar, just defend and kill enemy's near the door / turret.
3. defense points: wont happen to often, but if you have all other medals, just wait at 1 defense point Smile

Tank
2k absorb in 1 life: put dmg transfer on a melee -> easy
10k absorb in 1 life: use cooldowns to survive long enough; switch dmg transfer to get it fast.
5k absorb: Just dont forget to put the dmg transfer on someone and it will happen automaticly
50k absorb: Quite hard to achieve, but if you shield a healer and zerg, its possible ( i already transfered 200k dmg in 1 match)

Healer:
75k heal
300k heal (never saw 1, but i guess its 300)
2,5k heal: als dd, get out of combat, wait for the pvp debuff to drop and use a med kit!
5k heal: use biochem med kit out of combat, without debuff -> 2 medals!

DD
300k dmg= dont focus on this one. if you deal enough damage its okay, but the time you need for it, is to much.
2,5 k hit = just use trinkets!
5 k hit= line up your cd's and use some sort of finishing blow ability.

I really recommend to unequip 50% of your equipment pre fight. When the battle starts, equip it and use biochem medkit. Congrats you achieved 100 bonus valor in 5s Smile

Its quite possible that there are more medals, those are onle the one's i know. If you focus a little bit on the targets, 10 medals are easy to get (especially as tank!). Also if you have many medals, you will also get MVP from random noobs, no matter how useless you were.

Warning, if its a tight match, focus on winning! Only go for medals if its a clear win or a clear lose!
1 more tip for farming valor as a group:

If 50% of your time is in waiting que, try to get the most valor out of the matches.
Faster matches (6:0 in 5min) will give much less valor.

So its pointless to wait 15 min for a bg and win it in 5 min.

Oh and 1 more tip: throw the huttball on your enemy, that you wanna kill. Gives defense points Smile

RE: My random Warzone tips
one thing i have noticed is that attempting to cross guard in pvp does not work (where 2 tanks cast guard on each other applying double armor resistance against shared damage). having a highly mobile class such as a marauder or Juggernaut carrying the ball while also having a PT or 2nd jugger follow closely with guard up on the carrier makes capping so much easier. spike damage is pretty much non existent, a couple healers can really keep both players up indefinitely.

Jugg/Guardian really have the advantage at 50 when it comes to huttball... they have an 11/12 point talent which makes them immune to cc and take 20% reduce damage for 4 seconds after a charge or intercede. grab the ball, fall into the death pit, and either charge a foolish enemy standing near his goal line, or using intercede on an ally standing in favorable position basically leads to an instant score.

(01-17-2012 05:14 PM)Arctus Wrote:  Medal stuff

It's actually not that easy to farm medals, especially before 50. It's very class dependant, pure DPS will only have access to the 2.5k and 5k healing medals once you can make a medpak of that value(since pvp medpaks don't count), which for 5k means only rakata. Conversely, getting 2.5k hit on anything but a DPS isn't easy pre50 and getting 5k+ is more or less impossible unless you play a DPS speced DPS and get the expertise buff+pop an expertise pvp medpak.

Then you have the issues when your team is getting dominated or dominating so the game ends fast, and the defender medals require you to stand relatively close to the points and apparently more or less only work reliably on alderaan and voidstar.

Medal farming is really something you can do efficiently only when you're like 50 and biochem, otherwise it's more like playing the game and getting whatever because you just don't have the tools.

Also in the case of hutball, medal farming often gets in the way of winning. Winning involves moving around so you can receive a pass without anyone around, running with the ball or waiting at the ball respawn, all of which give very little ways to get medals at all.

Imo if you want Valor, the easiest way is to queue from Ilum, and cap points inbetween matches. Now that's fairly hard to do pre50 too, but you'll get 200valor for a game regardless of the result or your performace if you have the buff, and you just need to cap something to refresh the buff before you reenter. Might be hard to do as rep on certain servers though.
