RE: Shield Tech/Shield Specialist Tanking Discussion

To start with, as a tank, you should really be prioritizing Endurance over Aim on your gear. More HP is always better. Naturally you'll still be getting plenty of Aim from your gear, but as we're not meant to be damage dealers it's not overly important how much of it you get. As for secondary stats, take a look at this thread: http://sithwarrior.com/forums/Thread-Tan...ine?page=4 Using the spreadsheet there, you can easily calculate what stats will most dramatically affect your mitigation. In general, it's good to have a balance of defense, shield rating, and absorption, as diminishing returns dictate that stacking a single stat does little good. Out of all of our secondary stats, I find it toughest to get Defense Rating on my gear, so be on the lookout for pieces and mods with DR when you can. In the end, I'd probably go: Defense Rating > Shield Rating > Absorption Rating Solely because on the high-end PvE Powertech armor I've seen, we get plenty of Absorption, lots of Accuracy, some Shield Rating, and very little Defense Rating. Added to the fact that we have a lower base DR than Juggernauts or Assassins from our tanking tree, and Defense Rating is usually what will provide the biggest upgrade to your mitigation based on the spreadsheet. |
