Good dps, great mobilty, decent survivablity and still a great assist with your shield, taunts and CC's.

i think missing out on the crit damage bonus for rocket punch/flame sweep hampers burst quite a bit.

if ion cylinder is the way to go, which i am inclined to agree for guarding purposes, maybe something like this?

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#301hRG...ZZbIbbdh.1

the extra shock damage / duration from Supercharged Ion Gas hardly seems worth it for the type of build we are going for. the slow from Neural Overload is key. i think the points in tier 3 can be put into either talent. oil slick hardly seems worth it. lots of stealth detection, stealth scan every 15 seconds with a built in snare. and big numbers on rocketpunch/railshot/flamesweep

thinking about it again Shield Vents is clearly more synergistic with Flame Shield and is the superior t3 talent for this build

Those last two point you have in flame surge are the two that I can't decide on. The 40% armor pen on Rail Shot in the AP tree is pretty good. Numbers wise I guess we can't make a decision between the two until we have combat logs, I guess.

RE: Bounty Hunter PVP
Hi !

First of all, sorry for my bad english, not my native language, ... etc

I'am a powertech, curently using a full pyrotech build (2/8/31), and -I think- doing pretty well with it. I was wondering about set bonus. I'am wearing the Combat's tech set (2pc : +0.5s on carbonize/15s CD reduction on determination 4pc: +15% crit chance on rocketpunch), I'am more and more thinking of switching for the Eliminator's set (wich is a mercenary set) only because of the 4pc set bonus: +15% crit chance on railshot.

What do you guys think ? The 15s CD reduction on determination is pretty awesome, but 15% crit on railshot ...

RE: Bounty Hunter PVP
Rail Shot is great damage using Pyrotech, so getting more crit on that is a good plan.

RE: Bounty Hunter PVP
Does anyone have a spreadsheet of the BH PvP gear and what mods come on each piece? I know there was one done for Sorcerers. Thanks!

RE: Bounty Hunter PVP
There is a Powertech named Taugrim that has a good blog on various specs, taugrim.com/category/class/vanguard-powertech

I liked the All out DPS 4/6/31 and the Iron Fist 26/14/2. He has videos showing the different specs.

Taugrim is his name and his video feed is avaiable on Justin.tv

His builds are excellent and offer a very different flavour that I will definitely trying the iron fist one out when my Vanguard is 50.

RE: Bounty Hunter PVP
Regarding the pvp set bonuses, I have heard that the combat tech bonus on carbonize doesn't work for bounty Hunters but does work for vanguard.

if this is the case, should I get the Merc set bonus for rail shot if I am a pyro pt?

Are there any ones for Mercenaries?

None. The trooper is not really worth the trade off of going hybrid as grav round is central to Gunnery spec and doesn't synergize with the other trees like Vanguard abilities. Of course you CAN go hybrid with bodygaurd or even assault spec/gun, but don't expect the same results as the Vanguard AC. Of all the trees I've seen so far the vanguard has the best synergy and the most options for hybrids imo.

From my own experiences I much prefer Assualt Specialist over Gunnery on my trooper (which is level 40). It has excellent mobility, awesome burst and allows you to be very flexible. The trade off is sustained damage. You simply cannot match gunnery for sustained dps IF you are both standing toe to toe. The AS spec though allows you to continue to do damage via dots, while moving in and out of LoS to use powerful instant attacks. The perma-snare of AS offers far more utility too as you can snare multiple targets, apply a powerful DoT, all with a free attack.

After running AS spec for 20 levels now I went back to gunnery and it really felt awkward for me. I'm actually leveling a Vangaurd too as the trooper for me is by far the most enjoyable class I've played and I really want to check out some Vanguard hybrid builds.

I was the exact opposite. Leveled as Arsenal, I could never go to Pyro without it being terribly awkward and horrible. Different experiences, I suppose Tongue And I completely agree, hybridizing for Mercenaries doesn't work well enough as it does for Vanguards/Powertechs.

I am leveling a Vanguard at the moment as well, actually, and I intend to go with Carolina Parakeet. I intend to run this 21/2/18 since I think the 4% DR off of the Flame Burst/Ion Pulse and Flame Sweep/Explosive Surge helps immensely, which some CP builds don't take. And, given shield as an unhappy and relatively useless PvP stat, dropping the Absorption talent for the 4% DR makes perfect sense. Also, the ArP for Rail Shot/High Impact Bolt is absolutely necessary for Powertechs/Vanguards, because it'll help you burn down other tank specs a lot faster. No ArP on RS/HiB = sad PT/VG.

Most players (at least on the official forums) advocate for any builds that take Prototype Particle Accelerator / Ionic Accelerator to take the Eliminator set over the Combat Tech / Supercommando sets. I am not totally sure this is the case outside of getting pretty Rail Shot numbers. Combat Tech's Stockstrike/Rocket Punch bonus will yield more consistent burst, while Supercommando's 4pc will allow for a near-constant +5% DPS bonus. You'd have to swap out Supercommando mods and enhancements since Defense/Absorption are bad in PvP, but the +5% DPS increase with DPS mods would represent a pretty nice DPS pool. This will, of course, require a sim or a sheet to definitively prove. But part of me thinks that people choose Eliminator for the pretty RS/HiB numbers while Combat Tech/Supercommando may represent the better options. Though, does anyone have an opinion on this?
