While every class has an armor piercing attack, they cannot be solely used (Powertech/Vanguard has a spec with most armor piercing attacks, but some aren't piercing). More armor is useful in warzones since the majority of players uses non-internal/elemental attacks.
It is bad that shield rating/absorb aren't too great, but defense seems pretty useful since it may resist force attacks in addition to parrying melee.

You're right, armor is still useful. Defense only works against weapon damage attacks though, and you cannot parry while stunned (regardless of your defense rating).

Idk, kinda makes 23/whatever feel really underwhelming since its so shield/armor reliant for mitigation.

You're better off in dps pvp gear than tank pvp gear atm. Shields/Defense are currently only reducing damage from weapon damage attacks (saber attacks, sniper shots and a few used abilities from some classes) Shield/Absorb/Defense are bypassed completely by a ton of abilities. Armor is nice until you realize almost every class has a way to bypass that too.

Kinda fucked up.

I'd like to expand discussion on this topic and see what other SW posters think. I honestly don't want anything to do with the official forums as it seems that any attempt at intelligent discussion is wasted.

With things as they are currently, if I have a competent healer with me to Guard we are extremely difficult to kill by up to 6-7 people unless we're against a highly competent and coordinated team. I know this is true for any class+healer essentially but Tanks have Guard which makes a pretty significant difference, regardless of gearing for Damage or Tanking.

If they 'fix' things so that all or most abilities are affected by shield/absorption, would that not make tanks essentially invincible in PvP?

The only real problem that I see is that the tank stats exist on PvP gear when clearly they don't work as people seem to think they do.

Rainbow RE: Sith Assassin PvP
OK i'm hoping for some group therapy.

I'm struggling with one simple fact with PVP using my Assassin; with the basis of our damage being melee, i am sick of seeing low level ranged players BH/Sorc who blast AoE damage and get minimal killing blows still rank high in the game stats.

Just me having a whinge, but does anyone else find slipping out of stealth and crit Mauling at vital stages of BG play to great success- to find mediocre rankings?

Is it our lot in life to Ninja our way through PVP and settle for quality over quantity, or am i missing the point and need to learn to play the class properly?

The next statement may also help answer my own question: I currently am of the opinion that Electrocute is the most important and effective form of offense we have in our arsenal.

Peace.

to me, 23/whatever's advantage is the ability to guard an ally, really. It does have better survivability but not a ton - however if you go any other spec and put up guard, your damage goes to hell, whereas with this spec it stays decent enough.

RE: Sith Assassin PvP
With Wither getting a buff, I'm curious as to how the possible affects might play out as far as damage goes. I'd be willing to give it a try for a solid week, just to see if it proves to be more worthy than it seems at this point. Currently, I'm sitting at 315 expertise and 14.5k hp unbuffed. The rest of the defensive stats I'm not sure about since the servers are down now.

I haven't really had too many problems with my current spec 5/32/3. However, when the opposition is a beefed up Warrior-class or BH/Trooper-class, taking them down tends to be a little more...challenging. I'd still say the most annoying adversary to fight is a Sorcerer/Sage. Those damn shields are retarded. Lately I've seen plenty of people say Operative Dps spec is "overpowered", but I disagree when put up against a Sorc/Sage. I won't back down from fighting them or anyone for that matter. While fighting other decently to well geared players, I still crit them.."averagely", I'll say, considering my crit chance is 30%+ and multiplayer is 70%+.

Not that I'm worried by any means, I'm more concerned about what will provide an advantage for both you/me and the team - going with 5/32/3 or taking the buffed Wither (spec)?

I am also interested on discussing this more on this site. I'm playing 31/0/10 atm and I'm picking up defensive tanking gear. Is this is mistake?

No clue yet. I'll be going 31/0/10 in all stalker gear minus focus...we'll see.

RE: Sith Assassin PvP
Thinking of trying this tonight:

http://torguild.net/calculator/sith-inqu...2001000000

Not sure if Insulation+Eye of the storm are additive or multiplicative...2/2 Insulation could easily go into Haunted Dreams (prob better).

You'd primarily use lightning charge and a shield instead of a focus. You'd use the crit/surge relic and the tank shield/absorb one for a (maybe decent) extra defensive cd with Dark Ward.

Opening burst goes something like:
Recklessness+ Surge Relic + Expertise Buff
Discharge > Shock > Thrashx2 (Crushing Darkness off raze procs). Rinse and repeat.

Not sure how the damage is yet, i'll have to wait till tonight Sad

BUT the damage should outclass 23/0/18 and the durability and mobility should easily outclass 31 deception. Been feeling pretty meh about 31 deception lately, feels so one dimensional. With this you've at least got better group utility and target uptime.

edit: considering blowing credits on this too

http://torguild.net/calculator/sith-inqu...2201102000

Pop everything but recklessness then: Deathfield > Recklessness > Discharge > Shock> Thrash/Raze Procs
