RE: Sith Assassin PvP
Here's an idea. Sorry if this was posted before and I didn't see it.
0/19/22. In this build Thrash is comparable to Voltaic. You can even ditch Static Cling for Thrashing Blades to make it even closer. Obviously there is a significant drop in Shock's damage, but I think Raze and extra damage to Assassinate is enough to make up the difference. The RNG-ish nature of this might be a problem. The lack of Lit Recovery also might be a problem, but it still has the extra outs from Deception and a few more options with a faster Electrocute and instant Whirlwind. Thoughts? I've been meaning to try out a hybrid build like this for a few days now, I'll probably try it out tomorrow. One thing I'm nervous about missing is the extra crit damage from Crackling Blasts. A majority of my burst burst in my current build (5/33/3) comes from shock/discharge, and this build lowers the damage of both, for crushing darkness and increased maul/thrash damage. 10% melee damage is nothing to scoff at, but I'm not sure it makes up for the burst from bigger discharges/shocks. I'll have to play with it once servers come up, it certainly seems to have potential. |

RE: Sith Assassin PvP
My overall warzone damage seems higher with the 0/19/22 spec, but my burst is definitely far reduced. The force usage of the build seems quite a bit higher as well: there were many occasions where I didn't have enough force to shock (with 2 stacks of Induction). Some of that is likely due to unfamiliarity with the build, but it definitely is a bit less intuitive to play. I'll stick with it for a few more days to try to get used to it, I'm not having any issues getting the normal medals for damage with it.

I figured it should be easier with both Torment and Induction, and lots of regen from Darkswell and Dark Embrace. I suspected the burst would be less (didn't think it'd be "far reduced") but I thought the sustainability would help out in scenarios where the target is getting healed or you're using force on utilities like Force Slow and such. If that's the case, the build's probably no good. Risky <Nocturnal> - Darkness Assassin - Infinity Gate |

RE: Sith Assassin PvP
The biggest issue with burst is you have no hard hitting abilities. As 5/33/3 shock/discharge/maul all hit very hard. With this spec, maul hits a bit harder, and shock/discharge damage is quite a bit less as you're missing Crackling Blasts (50% crit damage). In addition, we don't really use enough melee abilities in PvP for Raze to be useful - I could go multiple fights in a row without it proccing once. I really didn't find the sustained damage to be much increased due to that. When it did proc it definitely helped, the damage is certainly non-trivial, but it just didn't proc enough to justify it to me.
It's entirely possible I was just used to 5/33/3 too much and wasn't able to play the build correctly, as it seems quite a bit different style, though I'd like to think I did an adequate job. It certainly isn't a "gimped" build as I was still able to get the normal 9-12 medals with it, but it definitely felt harder. |

RE: Sith Assassin PvP
As per the PTR notes on darthhater.com:
Wither: Damage has been increased by 15% and it now slows the movement speed of all affected targets. I wonder if Wither might actually be worth taking in PvP now? The added damage is nice by itself and the AoE slow can be pretty helpful in a lot of situations. It's too bad it doesn't say how powerful the slow is and how long it lasts. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#200rcrokrskfsZZf0c.1 |

RE: Sith Assassin PvP
For those interested in trying 31pt Darkness next patch and playing 23/x/x now:
http://www.swtor.com/community/showthrea...ost1423751 http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=156809 You're better off in dps pvp gear than tank pvp gear atm. Shields/Defense are currently only reducing damage from weapon damage attacks (saber attacks, sniper shots and a few used abilities from some classes) Shield/Absorb/Defense are bypassed completely by a ton of abilities. Armor is nice until you realize almost every class has a way to bypass that too. Kinda fucked up. |

The only thing I end up using death field for is to kill runners at less that 5% health as its my only 30m ability with the exception of Recklessness + Force Lightning. After 1.1 here are what i think the advantages and disadvantages of both Death Field and Wither. Death Field Advantages: 30m range 25 force cost (with 2 points in Fanatacism) Useful for runners and to keep people from capping objectives. Disadvantages: Damage is very underwhelming. Healing is not noticeable (not specced very high into madness). No other worthwhile effects other than the healing which is lackluster at best. Wither Advantages: 5% damage reduction AoE Snare Effects up to 5 targets instead of Death Fields 3 targets. 15% damage boost after patch and another 30% with 3 points in Mounting Darkness Shorter CD compared to Death Field (7.5s compared to 15s) Disadvantages: 10m range Damage??? (not sure if it will be equal to death field in damage after patch or not) Slightly higher force cost. (30 force compared to 25 force (talented)) So in my opinion I will be switching over to Wither since it is going to offer more utility than Death Field (though I will miss my 30m ability). RE: Sith Assassin PvP
If Wither damage is nice it'll outclass 23/x/x pretty handily. The damage+utility would be awesome. Not sure how awesome darkness is with how mitigation works now, but it looks promising.
