RE: Carnage discipline discussion
Yesterday I took the two points out of Erupting Fury and put them in Displacement. Didn't really have time to get used to using Deadly Throw + Savage Kick as a combo, but it probably has occasional uses.
I agree, priority and not rotation is definitely the place to start.
This is what I came up with a couple days ago (includes a few more situational abilities that you want to use whenever possible):
1) Pommel Strike
2) Cloak of Pain (if taking damage)*
7) Force Scream (if Blood Frenzy buff up)
8) Vicious Throw
9) Ravage (if Massacre buff up or < 3 Rage)
11) Battering Assault
12) Force Choke
Abilities marked with * are off the GCD, so theoretically they take no time and you can continue down the list. The main difference from yours is that I don't want to use Battering Assault (which has weak damage) until I have to.
I can see the argument for using it (basically) on cooldown; if you have 100% uptime in a tank-and-spank type situation, it probably boils down to the same thing, though.
Edit: Oh, and concerning openings, I think Force Charge->Savage Kick is definitely the way to go vs. non-elite. It will 1-shot normals sometimes (and if it doesn't, Battering Assault will finish them), and take a hefty chunk of health off strongs. Plus it looks like a Chuck Norris move.
When jumping into a pack of normals, you can take out 2 immediately with Force Charge->Savage Kick->Smash->Pommel Strike
For elites, I like to go:
Force Charge->Battering Assault->Obfuscate->Gore->Massacre->Ravage->Force Scream
