RE: Sith Sorcerer Healing Compendium
Definitely have to agree with Petrus here - you can risk running in the 16k range hp but you are doing your raid a disfavor as there are RNGs where you can get unlucky and be killed. Dead healer produces 0 hps.
Soa balls triple tick bug (happens pretty often) will bring me from 20k hp buffed +shield to something like 3k hp. You can also get very unlucky on Soa and get tossed right after you pop your ball - a few k more hp can make a world's difference. In 16m Soa fight you can get away with it with a healer down, in 8m that is a guaranteed wipe in most circumstances. There are certain fights I swap to endurance stim as a healer - Ann.droid at 20% on nightmare I will swap to endurance stims to help survive the missile phase ~10%. Soa P2 +p3 nightmare I will swap to endurance stims. Foreman crusher's rock AoE - you should not be hit but sometimes with server lag you could be out of it and still get it - some additional hp will help you avoid situations like these. Yes you will lose some willpower and power when you swap stims but you are not healing when you are dead. Dulfy.net - SWTOR guides & healing blog Member of MMO-Mechanics network |

RE: Sith Sorcerer Healing Compendium
Also agree with Petrus, but hadn't taken the time to write a really solid post in response. I was wondering if maybe our guild was strange in requiring people to get up to 18k. We find this is essential for fights like Soa on 16 Nightmare. Perhaps things are not quite as punishing on 8 man Nightmare?
My general impression with the current tier of raiding is that the main difficulty comes from staying alive through large hits. Sometimes you can avoid them through proper execution, other times you have to get lucky or have a large health pool. But I can't think of any fights right now that require extremely high HPS or DPS to avoid a wipe (which was more of the WoW model that many of us are likely used to). Methodical

Now I do have one question for you guys who have been clearing and working in Nightmare Mode. What kind of HP pool should we be looking at. Right now I am full columni with two rakata peices and I am sitting at 16.2 ish hp unbuffed. Can anyone shed some light on a good unbuffed pool for the top content (Nightmare). Personally I run 16.1K (unbuffed) HP in nightmare modes; I'm missing a few rakata pieces as well, but I did forget to mention some things that are extremely important. First, I'm Biochem, so i can swap to fortitude stims mid-fight & pop the Rakata 10% medipac if i know a nasty hit is incoming, which puts me somewhere around 21k raid-buffed. Secondly, I carry around Rakata Force-Master implants to increase my HP higher when i know a fight will be nasty. That being said, I'm definitely the lowest HP member of my team, but because of the tools I have, I dont have survivability problems. If you have the tools to get your HP where it needs to be; Go for it, there's no reason you can't clear nightmare mode with 16.1K HP. but if you dont, you should consider farming up some more gear. I know several people (mainly sorcs) who run around this range because of a few of our BIS pieces are very low endurance (Expert Nano-Option Resolve Systems & Expert Hyperaccelerated Awareness Chip). Plus quirky things like the (non-synthweaving) Rakata Force-Master belt being terrible, while the Columi Force-Master belt is much better. The Shadowlands

I'm looking for a BiS gear checklist for healing sorcs, as well as specific mods I should be chasing. Anything like that around here?

Sacrificing some stats (although even in columi, you shouldn't have to) so you can stay alive is *always* worth it. This pretty much sums up most encounters. Players surviving through an encounter leads to much higher rate of success. It seems silly to point out something so obvious, but SOO many players get tunnel vision, it's amazing. |

There are quite a few discussions in this thread about BiS gear and mods, however there isn't anything in the way of a compilation as of yet. As for the discussion about health I believe I'm being slightly misunderstood. For one if with my health of 16.8k raid buffed I'm l dying due to my low health I would have made some changes to boost it. A lot of players do tunnel vision or perhaps don't feel comfortable without a good safety buffer, that is why I believe it is a personal choice, but forcing someone who doesn't die to increase his health seems wrong, given that player continues to perform to that level. Yes, this is somewhat of a perfectionist's view but my ideology is, within certain limitations, to set yourself up for success rather than to gear/spec/etc for defeat. This is of course an extreme guideline; Medpacks, a certain amount of health, etc. will always be necessary. Seer | Corruption Spreadsheet |

Why not start a thread (or if there is one already, sticky?) where people can post gear lists with reasons pertaining to why it's BiS and stats totals? |

RE: Sith Sorcerer Healing Compendium
(sorry if this had already been asked before, I just look shortly over the 38 pages)
I thought about the stupid set4 bonus: what about using the normal set2 bonus and the set2 bonus of the PvP healing items, instead of the set4 bonus? Because our shield is really powerful this could be worth missing the ~36WP, What do you think about it? |
