Hi all,

First of all i want to say that i love the site.

I have been gaming most of my life and play almost every type of game. I got to say anything RPG always rates higher for me, i like story based games and the fact that SWTOR will be fully voiced and story based gives me a warm feeling inside.

Apart from from lots of single player RPG's i have played the following MMO's: Ultima Online, Ragnarok Online, Lineage II, MapleStory, WoW, D&D online, Perfect World and i'm shure i forgot a couple. The thing of note here is that Lineage is my favorite and i always went back to it. The things i like most about it are the way the world looks, realistic not all sorts of flashy collors and sharp edges like wow, and most importantly the pvp system, while there are penalties for killing "innocent" people, only towns are non-pvp zones anywere els you can kill anyone you want including your own party/guild/friends (altough you will not have many friends if you do). This leaves you totaly free to make you own aliances but also means there is always (risk of) pvp.

Secondly i hate WoW i played it for 3 months to give it a fair shakedown but i hate almost everything about it and what makes it worse is that everything is compaired to WoW and even systems that existed year befour WoW are now refered to as "WoW-like".

My plan is to start by playing a Sith Warrior on a pvp sever (EU) and i expect to be playing a lot. I heared rumors that you can lvl true pvp and that makes swtor a very promising game for me.

I hope i can continue gathering knowledge about the game from your site and posibly add some my self when the game comes out.

Welcome! Thanks for registering! I have a question for you, are you leaning towards Marauder or Juggernaut? I'm so torn and had been planning on Juggernaut and recently have seriously contemplated going Marauder.

I feel the exact opposite. The first time i read the class discriptions i wanted to play a Marauder. Now i feel like a Juggernaut with an offencive build might be a real beast in PvP and if it turns out there are to few tanks towards the end game (as there often are in MMO's) i can just reskill it to tank and find groups easyer. But at this point i whould still go for Marauder with a burst dmg build.

This is what i answered to the same question a year ago: "I'm gone be playing a Sith Marauder. I will build my character as offencive as possible and it will have a truly dark personality. That doesn't mean that i will always take the most obviously evil choices but there is a dark thought behind every decision"

In the end i will most likely choose a skilltree depending on the non dmg skills that you get. Since i will be pvping a lot things like stealth, force leaps, stuns, movement speed boosts, etc, etc will change your gameplay significantly. Personaly i like mobility over stealth so if a Juggernaut offers more skills that allow me to leap from one place to the other while doing similar dmg it will truly be a tough choice.

In short mostlikely i will play a Marauder becouse of higher mobility and burst dmg. But i haven't played as a tester so i don't know all the skills yet or how the game "feels" when you play it.

p.s.: The "Math required" thing should be a lot harder to prevent drunk posting ^^

Hello I'm new here as well and I took a liking in this site.

I started my mmo "career" with lineage 2, and have played warhammer and aion too, but most of my time went in wow, I've played vanilla and the next two expansions, quite succesfully I might add, I've cleared most of the content, reached 2k+ ratings in arena, although I stopped taking the game too seriously after tbc because I believed it lost it's charm but what I've find out is that in mmos, there is a point where the game becomes really simple to play it. Wow always had a focus in pathing for example and if I could capitalize on it, I just performed better than most others in pvp. I'm fairly sure I can do this in swtor too but only time will tell.

The reason I will try out swtor is because it looks like a game that is well structured with a mindfull approach to pvp. I'm a full scale pvp player, I love outdoor pvp, ganking, and I love impossible odds since I'm actively seeking to improve my reaction times and hit my class skill-cap. Perhaps I'll do pve as well, always did, but it's just not my main focus. Depends on my free time and if I find a guild with a tight schedule.

As for my class, I was torn between Sith Assassin and Sith Marauder but no more. I'll probably play the marauder. I like dps classes and I understand them better and I'm really excited about marauder in almost every aspect. Looks, lore and all I've learned about the class design. Juggernaut doesnt work for me at all even now that I know he has a dps spec. He seems like he is a strong pvp class though and I'll probably have to study it in order to defeat it.

I'm 21 years old and I'm from eu.

My theorycrafting skills are okish at least. I understand rotations and priority lists since my main in wow was a warlock, and I kept maining warlock from the start (patch 1.03) when he was the worst class (and my friends actually made fun of me, lol ^^) through the whole tbc. I must really like drama for all I know ;p .

Thank you for starting this site and I hope that it will expand and become a great resource of theorycrafting for swtor.

Greetings all,

Been gaming since 85, Extensive MMO experience started with Asherons Call in 99, then i dabbled in EQ with of all people my mom who has never played a video game before that in her life but somehow managed to become the highest ranking Magician on her server according to EQrankings.com (i think she somehow stumbled into a good guild and she had unlimited time to play as she had her own business) anyway after my mom schooled me in EQ i went back AC until i jumped onto Planetside for a little while, from there i went back to AC, until i jumped ship again to play Asherons Call 2, that game was terrible so i jumped onto Star Wars Galaxies. That was good for awhile but i eventually went back to AC (by this time i had my AC Char to lvl 180, Mace, Item Magic. His name is :I Was Here First: If any of you played ac. After yet another stint on AC i played Middle Earth Online, awesome game. Then a game called WOW came out, Stole my buddies beta account since he was not gonna play it and I stayed on that game for 2 years in a PVP guild where all we did was battlegrounds almost every night. Quit a little while after the first expansion came out and went back to Middle Earth Online. Now that star wars is coming out i believe this will be my favorite mmo since i love star wars. Its the perfect match for me, star wars and mmo, i think this will be my final mmo for the foreseeable future. Star Wars is by far what i am most interested in as far as fantasy/fiction entertainment so this is a perfect game for me, Galaxies was just not that great of a game or i just didn't like it that much but this is going to be awesome.

PS. MY Star Wars Audio Book Collection: When i first posted it to demonoid 3 years ago it was by far the largest collection on demonoid (perhaps anywhere online) since then as you can imagine many books have come out and i have just created a new torrent for demonoid which i have also fixed so it is still in chronological order from the oldest story to the newest one. There are over 200 books in this collection and i hope you enjoy them as much as i do. Here is the link to the goods: http://www.demonoid.me/files/d...../29310872/

The force will be with you....always

Welcome aboard, guys. I enjoyed reading the various game histories you all had, and glad you seem to be as excited about SW:ToR as I am. Glad to have you here with us!

Like gtdef, I've often been torn between the Sith Assassin and the Marauder. But my hear' keeps coming back to my first-blush at the dual-wielding, Force sensitive Sith Marauder. I wrote my early RP stories about Blod'Hakk as I explored Star Wars lore, before many game details were known. The Marauder play-style appears to fit me best, and fit my old Blod'Hakk.

I have to give a /salute to this quote, as I really lol'd when I read it.

Hi all

I enjoy the idea of a theorycrafting site. Finally!! other ppl taht think like me:-)

My MMO experience comes from Dark Age of camelot, warhammer online and wow (wow 14 days then went back to daoc). I have played alot of other MMO's that has either been clone of this or that game, with no real innovation, so not even gonna mention all of those.

I love the part about knowing the mathematical formular of stuff ingame .Example:

Say I have gotten a suposedly uber sword in a mmo. Uber because its proc is insane. I would emidiately find some mob, that i can beat on for ages and not die to start my tests, to figure out its chances to proc. I would auto acctack the mob 1000 times, screenshot it and get data into a spreadsheet. Then I would try to adjust 1 factor, hit 1000 times, spreadsheet and repeat. All this to see if the "chance to proc" is affected by a stat or some other thing. When I eventually find out that the sword procs 7,43% of the time I hit, I would add the damage to its base damage and start comparing it to a mainstreem sword ( that probably has higher base dps, but no proc at all), to see if its really worth using the "suposedly uber sword" in the long run.

Its tedius to do that stuff, but the knowledge is gold. In the game I played the most (daoc), it was all about tweaking and optimizing, having the calculator always handy. When doing your template and your spec. I loved that part and I am really looking forward to accumulating formulars for all we can find a formular for and sharing it on this forum:-P

Hail Mighty Warriors!

I am Tsuneo of the Empire guild, Jen'Jidai and future Sith Juggernaut. I find this website intriguing and secretly wonder if this site is going to explode in popularity as "the" site to go to for everything SW:TOR. I want to be a part of that when that happens.

I have played MMOs since 2004 with the first being FFXI though that didn't work out so well. Then I heard that Blizzard was creating an MMO based on the Warcraft universe and knew that I had to have my warlock(Voidheart) and my warrior(Tsuneo) come to existance. I still play WoW with both my warrior and warlock, never though any other class could compare. But now has come the time that Tsuneo and Voidheart make their way to SW:TOR. WoW is a blast but Starwars is what truely beats in my raging heart.

I like to raid and RP very much. However recently I have experienced an "awakening" and found out that I now love PvP. Before I would dabble in it and would only participate if it meant furthering my PvE goals but now I enjoy walking up to a druid and opening my mouth and blasting the damn cat with flame and shadow or get the jump on a rogue before he gets a jump on my friends.

I recently went to my first gaming convention at PAX East and walked away with my many glorious things: 1) an autographed poster from the storywriters at Bioware. 2) Getting to meet many of my guildies face-to-face. 3) Actual game play of SW:TOR and finally 4) an overwhelming desire to make video games for a living. I could care less about the pay. Money is but a means to an end. Passion is a way of life and memories of that passion are all that you can take to your grave. So now I embark upon an epic quest to gather knowledge, experience, and network contacts to make that dream happen. I'll do whatever it takes.
