Quote:Perhaps the issue is that the .42 number is based on pre-1.3 armor reduction numbers.....runs to check that.....Bingo that's it. Using the previous build of simC power is indeed worth around .4 DPS (possibly slightly lower as your gear isn't quite optimal), whereas in the current build it's worth ~.33-.34 on your build.

That decrease seems in line with the change in armor reduction buffs. We now live in a world capped at 20% reduction which makes internal damage more valuable than it was 2 weeks ago

This could be a legit issue. I did in fact post that 0.42 value a week or more ago, using the 1.2x results.

Yep, on my current BiS profile (perhaps not 100% BiS, but the stats are balanced well in full campaign gear) power is scaling at roughly 34-35 DPS per extra 100 or .34-35 per power. I'll go update my relic post in the BiS thread with that number.

Why'd this thread get dropped out the "Important Threads" section?

Not sure, I might have screwed something up when I edited the OP. Restored to sticky status.

So, if I'm reading things correctly, Lightning is currently simming and parsing a decent bit above Madness and Hybrid when using the specs' respective BiS sets. I'm interested to know, how do the three specs compare against each other in straight-from-the-vendor Campaign gear?

SimC shows Lighting as 3.87% superior to Madness in BIS gear (SimC report), and 1.91% better than Madness in stock Campaign gear (SimC report).

Sorry if I missed it reading, but what is the preferred set bonus for Madness build? Should i go for the 5% alacrity from 4 piece PvE or the 1.5 second cooldown reduction on crushing darkness?

If I am recalling correctly, the last information I heard from Hatterson on the matter is that the two are very nearly identical in DPS contribution, and both are quite minor DPS contributions anyway (in the ballpark of 0.5-0.75% DPS).

Now that we can use any set bonus and still have BiS I think it raises the question as to which to use.

The possibilities are:
Rakata Force-Masters 4pc - Affliction/Weaken Mind damage has 10% change to increase alacrity by 5% for 15 seconds. 20s internal cooldown
Battlemaster Force-Masters 2pc - Crushing Darkness/Mind Crush cooldown reduced by 1.5s
Battlemaster Stalkers 4pc - Reduced cooldown of recklessness by 15 seconds and increases charges by 1

I'll refer to these as RF4, BF2 and BS4

Sims are run with the usual 100k iterations, patchwerk style, elite skill, low lag, all buffs/debuffs and stims. I used the BiS sets included in SimC (which are based on the work in the other thread on these forums) with the exception of Madness where 3 points from Electric Induction were swapped for 3 points in Convection which resulted in a DPS increase of about .6-.7% across all three bonuses.

* - Spec/bonus combo has force issues. In the case of lightning it is around the 340-350s mark whereas in the case of Madness it's right around the 290-300s mark. For lightning there's not much you can do aside from cut out using Chain Lightning (our highest cost ability) For Madness you can cut out Death Field and you're mostly stable.

Interesting that the Stalker bonus is so potent for the Madness-based builds. I'm not surprised that the Rakata one wins out for Lightning, though, that spec definitely has the best Alacrity scaling of the 3.
