Quick question about Gravity in the Rage tree again.

For a Marauder, if I take both Gravity and Seeping Wound (T2 Annihilation), does that reduce the cost of Rupture by one as well? I doubt it, but want to get a solid confirmation if possible.

Marauder- Teach me how to Rage - Ikarus - 02-10-2012 02:34 AM

I have a level 40 Marauder that I leveled from 10 - 39 as Carnage. At 39 I switched to Rage because I wanted to try out something different. I'm really enjoying it but I'm not entirely sure I'm 'doing it right'. There is a surprising lack of resources out there on Rage on the official forums or elsewhere.
Any Rage spec'd Marauders out there that could give some tips or know of any guides/blogs/sites? Ability priority list, stat weights etc? I'm interested in both PvE and PvP application.

Thanks,

Hey there, I'll see if I can help out a little bit.

One of the major issues you're running into right now is the lack of Force Crush, your top tier talent in rage. The build is so dependent on this one skill giving you smash procs that without it, I'd almost venture to say Rage isn't worth it. However - given the circumstances, let's get you a little bit straightened out.

A standard rotation you'll follow that should clean up most mob groups:

Saber throw / Force Charge
Force Choke
Smash
Obliterate
Scream

then just wipe up the rest. On elites, start off with that then continue to work obliterate, scream, and smash info the rotation along with your standard rage building skills. Once you get crush, your rotation will change up a bit because it's a DoT and gives you 6 ticks of shockwave. The rest of the rotation is pretty natural after the initial burst.

As far as stats go, focus on getting a bit of surge/power since you will have decent crits already from talents.

man i dont know

i wanna make a warrior cuz i really enjoyed playin em in other mmos.but from what i looked at

rage seems like the pvp only spec.which im assuming its bad in this game to pve with a pvp spec but carnage seems to reiliant on defensive cooldowns to win as far as pvp goes and i dont wanna go annihilation,i was lookin at juggernaughts but i found this Vengeance rotation and it seems proc based, and i hated proc based rotations in my last mmo

i dont know, just seems like every class ive looked up that id think id like i always find 1 thing id hate about them

Tbh, im a rage Juggernaut DPS. As i prefer it more. I dont believe in oh its a pvp talent tree not a pve one, not its not. Its up to your personal preference, yeah both in my terms, vengenace and rage have pvp talents but you just dont spec in them.

Cant comment on Maru but i like Rage more than Vengence in Jugger.

Also yeah force crush is the main move for it so once u hit that ull be luaghing.

RE: Marauder- Teach me how to Rage - Ikarus - 02-11-2012 02:38 AM

Thanks for the feedback. I'm now lvl 43 and can confirm Force Crush makes a huge difference. As to whether its 'PvP only' I'm going to have to disagree. While I'm having a lot more success in PvP with it over Carnage, I'm having zero problems with it continuing to level. Golds are no problem. I can't speak for max level play in OPS, but for leveling/questing I think it's completely viable, though probably advisable to wait until level 40 when you get Force Crush.
I was thinking surge rating was probably a good option as we already get some auto crits as it is, so making them bigger is never a bad thing. I just have to say for anyone who's thinking about it, I'm having a total blast playing this spec. Give it a try, respecs are cheap.

RE: Marauder- Teach me how to Rage - exelius - 02-11-2012 04:59 AM

I would disagree with the sentiment that Rage is a PVP only tree. I do some pretty wicked damage in PVE with rage; though likely that will get toned down with the changes to Surge (I was critting Smash for ~5k with a ton of surge.) Also, this spec gets the version of Revenge that basically cleaves two mobs; so that can be great in PVE or PVP.

Regardless, Rage seems to be a perfectly fine PvE tree and the added mobility definitely helps in Ops groups. You do have to be a bit more aware of the positioning on your smashes, but having tried all 3 marauder specs, I believe Rage is at or very close to the top in terms of total damage output. I regularly pull aggro 1/2-3/4 of the way through an ops fight if I'm able to stay on the target the whole time.

Its PVP benefits are obvious; I don't know how effective a marauder could be in PVP without Obliterate and Force Crush.

I'm not sure I understand this bit. Do you mean Ravage? I wasn't aware there was a cleave effect. Though it's entirely possible I missed something Smile

The question was asked, but I didn't see a response, concerning if the amount of accuracy needed for special attacks against a raid level boss of 108% (special attacks)?

If this is correct when I look at my character sheet I need a minimal of 98% accuracy (90% base + 8% though gear) which would be 108% for special attacks (100% base + 8% thought gear)
