RE: T1 Ops loot Discussion - Parkerdude2003 - 02-21-2012 08:39 AM

This weekend I heard a rumor and wasn't sure so was wondering if anyone could clarify.

I know Hardmode and Nightmare mode drop the same loot, but Does 8man nightmare mode drop MORE loot, then 8man hardmode?

That's what I've been hearing lately, we have cleared all hardmodes and haven't done nightmare yet because there is no incentive but if it drops more loot, then we will begin to work on them.

I've heard killing Karagga in Nightmare spawns another chest... any confirmation on this?

I am just trying to get a sense of whether there is any real reason to continue our nightmare progress beyond simply getting the clears (which we still consider important).

I checked this for a couple bosses - they drop the exact same amount of rakata loot (two per boss I think?) between nightmare and hardmode assuming you are not using masterloot and one of them didn't bug out.

That being said - why do nightmares?
  • More challenge
  • guaranteed mount - sometimes 2x mount
  • awesome titles (the Infernal, the Unyielding)
  • Bragging rights
  • See above

Can someone please explain the current master looter bug, and the workaround?

The bug: when you have master looter turned on in Ops, bosses don't drop the correct gear. For instance, Bonethrasher on HM is supposed to drop two Rakata helm tokens and two Exotech (Columi equivalent) gloves. With master looter turned off, this is what he always drops. With master looter turned on, however, my guild saw only the useless gloves and no Rakata head tokens on our first kill of him.

The workaround: don't use master looter, ever. Have your raid leader link the items one by one and discuss before looting anything.

Correct me if I'm wrong:
Loot should be on Round Robin.

After downing a boss, THEN set it to master looter, so it can be properly distributed? If not, HOW does it get distributed properly when it's not on master looter?

No, just keep it on round robin. To "properly distribute" it, you have to:
1. Have someone turn off auto loot, and loot the body 1 piece at a time, telling people when to need/greed.
2. Autoloot everything, and let people need/greed on an honor system.

Okay. Thank you for the help!

Ya something we do is have the raid leader turn off auto-loot and then click the corpse to check loot. then raid leader says in mumble/ventrilo what dropped and we get to discuss for a bit who wants what.. then raid leader loot the item one by one - whoever decided to get that gear press need, everyone else hit pass.

For companion gears - everyone hit greed unless they don't have a companion that can use it.

I come from a guild where we trust people to need/greed the appropriate things. Do we need to do anything (except not be using Master Looter) to avoid any loot bugs?

To avoid bugs, no. The one thing we ran into during this though was having 2 identical items. It's impossible to tell which is which. Assuming you only have two people who need them, have someone need one, pass the other, and the other person greed both of them. Everyone else has to pass.

This system works fine if there's 2 people, and if everyone else passes, but it falls apart if someone companion greeds or you have 3 people who need the item. In that case, I'd do option 1, and do each thing individually.

Basically though we have everyone wait on rolling until people have rolled/won on things they NEED. Then we allow companion greeding, etc. It works out fine for us, but wouldn't be the most fun in a pug or a newer guild, IMO.
