JK Final Storyline Quests [Spoilers] - theothersteve7 - 01-11-2012 01:00 AM I finally hit 50 last night and had serious momentum going. I finished off the bosses at Corellia with full health. I landed on the final quest planet and started mowing down opposition. I felt invincible. Then something horrible happened. They took away my companions and forced me to use my astromech droid, T7. Now, I'm a tank, and I always use Doc as my companion. A tank and a healer are very good at outlasting any enemy. A tank and a DPS are decent at burning down an enemy before dying. Two tanks are really good at standing around getting shot before falling over. Three trash pull attempts and it became obvious that I couldn't even kill typical Strong mobs in here. Being the stubborn bastard that I am, I started corpse-hopping, blowing cooldowns, skirting mobs, and pulling every trick I know to get past. The rez timer ticks higher and higher, and eventually... I run out of durability on my gear. This is really depressing. It's painfully obvious that this segment was designed for a very good DPS with a properly geared T7 companion. It's not a matter of skill; if I nail my rotation perfectly and blow all my cooldowns, I can maybe kill one mob before I die. No amount of RNG or skill can make up that difference. I might be able to defeat the boss itself if I were to reach it, but that's not possible. So, what should I do? Since this is in a special location, there's no way to bring help, right? Or should I try summoning someone with the cybertech thingamajig? Should I respec and build an entire second set of gear? RE: Final Storyline Quests (spoilers are reasonably likely) - Kaedis - 01-11-2012 01:05 AM Moving this to the SW/JK thread and retitling a bit. RE: Final Storyline Quests (spoilers are reasonably likely) - frmorrison - 01-11-2012 01:10 AM Did you try to click the dps stance for T7? I know my tank pet, Khem, has a dps and tanking stance. Also does T7 have decent gear? Alternately, you could respec to dps (a new gear set may not be required, since talents provide a a good portion of the dps ability). RE: JK Final Storyline Quests [Spoilers] - theothersteve7 - 01-11-2012 01:14 AM He does have a DPS stance, I had forgotten about that. Definitely worth a shot, thanks. His gear is awful and he practically doesn't exist from a combat perspective. I'll try gearing him up tonight and see how it goes. RE: JK Final Storyline Quests [Spoilers] - theothersteve7 - 01-11-2012 06:19 AM Haha! Check this out: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=156100 I post this and within a couple hours they acknowledge the issue. Props to Bioware! (Granted, there were at least 25 pages of complaints on the forum.) On a side note, I didn't know that this was a Jedi Knight-specific problem. RE: JK Final Storyline Quests [Spoilers] - Manveru - 01-11-2012 09:13 AM Get a friend to help you out. Believe me, it's not worth the frustration trying to do it with a droid who dies in 2 seconds after the boss pops clones. And yes you CAN get someone to do this whole place with you no problem. RE: JK Final Storyline Quests [Spoilers] - Bigsauce - 01-12-2012 07:50 AM Agreed, I would just get a friend to help. I've heard of people being able to get lucky and solo through it, including the final fight, but it's not worth the headache and amount of credits you will blow on it. It needs to be tuned, but I really would hate to see it over-tuned. It's a tough and FUN fight. And dying a few times is totally acceptable, but I tried it completely solo upwards of a dozen times. Not to say I am some video game god, but I've been around the block as a gamer, hardcore MMO guilds, tons of single player games including the KOTOR games (multiple plays through), but this is damn near impossible solo. Good luck! If you do get him solo, please come back and brag about it.
RE: JK Final Storyline Quests [Spoilers] - theothersteve7 - 01-13-2012 01:22 AM So I developed a new strategy. I started kiting him back to Vael's room. Seriously, you know the big spiral ramp back where the med droid is? Well, the boss doesn't leash, and the corridor has enough turns to allow you to stay out of LOS. It takes him about 30 seconds to climb all the way up, and Force Push is on a one minute cooldown. Factor in Stasis, Hilt Strike, and a couple Force Kicks... Okay, so maybe I still died to him, but it was a cool idea. The biggest problem I've had is that he doesn't seem to need line of sight to use Lightning Storm, and that he doesn't follow me like a melee mob would. I eventually found a generous person willing to help me out, who brought Doc, and we just stomped him. RE: JK Final Storyline Quests [Spoilers] - Kapoue - 01-13-2012 08:34 AM I did it on my second attempt. For reference, for the first attemp, T7 had lvl 10 gear on half his slots and no gear in the other half plus a lvl 37 blaster as his main weapon. I got go the temple by running and dieing and rezzing. When I saw I had 10 minutes to wait I decided to rez at the medical droid. By doing that I teleported in the emperor's lair where I was unable to complete the quest. I was standing next to the emperor but he wasn't talking to me. I took my fleet pass after waiting 5 hours in the room for my fleet cooldown to become up. For my second attempt, I bought a bunch of lvl 40-50 blue gear at the GTN. I wiped once or twice but I made it to the emperor's lair alive (I even did the sidequest, it's easy actually). Took the emperor down on my first try. The trick is to force push him into the stairs and to time your interrupts well. Good luck! P.S. : I had 1 lvl 50 epic item and 4-5 lvl 50 epic mods RE: JK Final Storyline Quests [Spoilers] - Masterkiller - 01-13-2012 10:55 PM With Bioware acknowledging the final class quest difficulty I'm going to go ahead and lock the thread since it is not theorycrafting related. |
