RE: Praying for a customizable UI - Jal'orr - 01-26-2012 02:57 AM I'm actually finding the UI worse since the patch 1.02A - before that, a spell Icon would stay dark until the CD was completed, and then return to full color, giving you a visual cue when your spell was ready to use again. Now they are full color all the time, and when the CD reaches the very bottom, it's almost impossible to see when the CD actually ticks off. At least in wow, there was a silver flash on the Icon to tell you the CD was completed. Maybe having the last 5 tick off numerically in the Icon or something... (I know...this would be too much in the way of programming, but we can hope right?) OmniCC did exactly that, and was one of the smallest WoW mods I ever had. I'm no programmer, so I can't say how many lines of code it took, but relative to many of the other mods available for WoW, it was downright tiny. RE: Praying for a customizable UI - Nook - 01-28-2012 01:51 AM Ha Oramac, i was just thinking I wish there was a numerical counter like omnicc. RE: Praying for a customizable UI - Drues - 01-28-2012 05:29 AM Back in beta, I put in a request for "Target of Target" UI frame, which is most helpful in pvp and pve in healing as well as crowd control, but I'm sure it fell on deaf ears. RE: Praying for a customizable UI - Enemy - 01-28-2012 05:46 AM The UI for the cooldowns in 1.1.0b are pretty crappy. The longer the cooldown, the harder it is to tell when it's really close to be able to use. I think part of the problem is that the animation is set to end at the BOTTOM of the icon. Something along the lines of OMNI CC with a little bit of user preference configurability would be ideal. I gotta hand it to BW for trying SOMETHING is this regard, but sometimes it makes me wonder if any of the designers have ever actually PLAYED an MMO before. The more I play the game the more I get this sneaking suspicion that there is a problem with the client/server relationship pertaining to timing but I can't quite put my finger on it yet. The only major issue I've found in regards to this is that the server will often reject cast requests for off-the-GCD abilities while on the GCD in certain circumstances. I find this a great deal with Retaliation on my Juggernaut. I'll use VS, then start spamming Retaliation, and my character will spend about a quarter second in the wind-up animation to the saber jab for Retaliation, then back off, and do this repeatedly for the length of the global, then finally cast it. I've noticed similar cast blocks on occasion with effects like my interrupt (on my Sorc too), Enrage, and Cloud Mind. I've also noticed occasional cast request rejections for conditional abilities (like sub-20% abilities or positional abilities), though these rarely last more than a quarter second or so. I noticed this a lot on my Assassin. I'll go to refresh Dark Ward after hitting whatever ability that's on the GCD, and nothing will happen. It's not game-breaking, but it is annoying. Honestly, I think the easiest fix for target-of-target functionality would be simply to move the Focus target to the left side (above character frame), and put the target-of-target above the target frame on the right. It keeps their base UI intact and clean, but improves usability exponentially. RE: Praying for a customizable UI - Addonex - 02-08-2012 07:23 AM I truly understand BW wanting to be careful when it comes to mods, but opening the api for the "UI only" would solve all of these problems. There are plenty of brilliant people in this community that will do in weeks what BW hasn't been able to accomplish in years. That being said,I think we won't be seeing mods for quite some time though. I don't think BW has the client polished enough to open a can of potential problems. Of course it's pure speculation on my part but I wouldn't be surprised if it was another eight months to a year before they have enough kinks worked out to give the modders access to the api. I'll be happy if the UI update allows me to move my target debuffs off the portrait where I can see them and the fire I'm trying not to stand in at the same time. And get them away from the other corruption sorceror whose dots have the same icons as mine. RE: Praying for a customizable UI - Ikarus - 02-09-2012 03:09 AM If I could have only one adjustment to the UI it would be a better proc notification system. Something visual around your character when an ability becomes available. For anyone who dabbled with addons in WoW, something akin to PowerAuras. As a Marauder and spend so much time watching my action bars and missing all the great visuals all around. |
