Just to get the ball rolling, here are my initial thoughts on PVE DPS builds for the powertech. I've only played the BH to 15, and theorycrafting isn't my strong suit, but anyway...

Advanced Prototype (8/31/2):

Pyrotech (4/6/31):

Why did you skill ION Overload for a spec within what you wont use the Ion Gas Zylinder?

For what purpose you skill a DMG Debuff, this is for Tanks.

Why did you not Skill 50% more DMG to Flame Thrower?

Here is my suggestion about Advanced PT DPS Spec for PvE:

completely theoretical pvp spec Tongue the idea is to use Combustible Gas Cylinder, while speccing Arsenal. Mainly for Sweltering heat
Sweltering Heat
Bounty Hunter (Mercenary)

Activation time: Instant

Combustible Gas Cylinder has a [50/100]% chance when it applies its effects to reduce the movement speed of the target by 50% for 2 seconds.
. What you lose is the heat regen from Terminal Velocity
Terminal Velocity
Bounty Hunter (Mercenary)

Activation time: Instant

While High Velocity Gas Cylinder is active, critical hits with missiles and Unload have a [50/100]% chance to vent 8 heat. This effect cannot occur more than once every 3 seconds.
and some crit. Tho you gain crit from Upgraded Arsenal
Upgraded Arsenal
Bounty Hunter (Mercenary)

Activation time: Instant

Increases the effects of your gas cylinders while they are active:Combustible Gas Cylinder: Increases tech crit chance by [3]%.High Velocity Gas Cylinder: Reduces the heat cost of Rail Shot by [8].Combat Support Cylinder: Increases tech crit chance by [3]%.
. It's all about if you end up Heat capped or not. Remains to be seen if this is a viable spec Tongue

A couple things:
1. I'd just take out the Combust points and the random Ion Gas Cylinder point and stick em in Steely Resolve
Steely Resolve
Bounty Hunter (Powertech)

Activation time: Instant

Increases Aim by [3/6/9]%.
.
2. I also don't think that Prototype Electric Surge and Hitman
Hitman
Bounty Hunter (Powertech)

Activation time: Instant

Reduces the cooldown of Quell by [1 seconds/2 seconds].
are useful in a PvE setting. I'd probably stick them in Advanced Tools
Advanced Tools
Bounty Hunter (Powertech)

Activation time: Instant

Reduces the cooldown of Flame Thrower by [1.5 seconds/3.0 seconds] and Grapple by [5 seconds/10 seconds].
or Prototype Flame Thrower
Prototype Flame Thrower
Bounty Hunter (Powertech)

Activation time: Instant

Flame Burst and Flame Sweep have a [50/100]% chance to grant Prototype Flame Thrower, increasing the damage dealt by your next Flame Thrower by 10%. Stacks up to 5 times.
, to be honest.

I'd probably roll something like this, but for some reason I'm not a huge fan of Tier 6 and 7 in the Advanced Prototype tree (but maybe more of a PvP thing though so I wouldn't really think too much of it).

I'd drop the points in Ion Overload, and Iron Fist and put them into some combination of Steely Resolve and Rebraced Armor. Other than that it looks great!

This is my Firebug Merc build.

I know people seem to prefer Powertech for Firebug, but I wanted a Merc Dps build, and don't like Arsenal Tongue. This would be 100% PvE Dps, I do zero PvE, and have a Tankasin for my tank needs.

5/31/5 Mercenary Arsenal

I think this may have been from the Arsenal Compendium for the most part. Can't remember off the top of my head.

But anyway, that's what I'm looking at for my intro to an Operations spec. later on I want to modify it to have two less points in Advanced Targeting in favor of Critical Reaction for the Alacrity proc. Obviously accuracy will be an important stat to max out first for full effectiveness of DPS stats. I'm going to assume that in later/higher levels of gear accuracy will be easier to max out without the talent.

should look something like this:

7/31/3 Mercenary Arsenal

Completely agreed, I think this is with no doubt the main Arsenal-Spec when you hit 50.

RE: Rate my spec thread - Oramac - 12-11-2011 09:13 AM

I saw this Bodyguard/Arsenal hybrid posted somewhere the other day by a beta tester for L50 pvp healing/dps. Just wondering what everyone else thinks of it? The last 2 points can go in almost anything, though I'm leaning towards Afterburners or Power Barrier for pvp utility.

RE: Rate my spec thread - Gorodetski - 12-11-2011 01:05 PM

It seemed to get a little... skipped over...

so I'll ask again, This is my Firebug Merc build, I've heard alot of people say PT is flat out better for Firebug, is that true or are Merc's playable with the shared spec?
