RE: Eternity Vault: SOA - Kaedis - 03-20-2012 12:12 AM To be honest, you don't need a specific off-healing spec to shield people. All you need is an extremely force-stable spec. 7/18/16 has enough force regen and force cost reduction that casting Static Barrier twice every 20 seconds really isn't going to hurt you much. That's precisely what I do, even though we run 2 Sorcs healers already. (03-19-2012 06:25 PM)Aequitas Wrote: I have a question regarding HM SOA. No, it's not easier to stack up - that would mean if someone failed to move (or got picked up, or mind trapped) the ball would explode on everyone. If the ball loses it's target, it either bugs and stays there, or picks a new target, who then has to go run and explode it. I recommend checking out the video's I made in the OP. The 16m especially shows some great positioning for this fight. When the person targeted with Lighting Orb gets thrown in the whirlwind, the Orb will then chose a new target. This will not be announced so people need to be on their toes. Sometimes it will just sit at its location and kind of bug out, but I believe finding a new target is the intended mechanic and what occurs the majority of the time. If it happens I have instructed my raid to call out "Im in the Air, and my orb is lose"... Then just assign someone to target the lose orb for a Target of Target Assist (Alt +T) and call out the new target. The New Target can pop the orb as usual. RE: Eternity Vault: SOA - Aandaas - 03-20-2012 03:32 AM Do the orbs target their current "target" I haven't even checked this before since ToT is so inconvenient and we don't usually have balls loose? Every single time we've had the person an orb is targeting Mind Trapped or Cycloned, the orb floats to a point about 8 yards from the boss, on the border of the innermost and next-outward rings, stops for a couple seconds, then despawns. We've never had it retarget from those effects. However, use of Extrication, Cloaking Screen, and similar effects will cause it to silently retarget another raid member. We lost a healer to an orb because the original target was Cycloned. The Cycloned person didn't call it out, it chose a secondary target and the orb went right to him, then exploded on contact. We've never had it retarget from those effects. This is generally what we see. It almost always changes targets for us. It's not really surprising we see different things though... the boss fight is still fairly buggy, even after all the fixes. (And Fud, yeah, sorry about that. Edit/Reply buttons are right next to each other and the screen looks basically the same. ) |
