We tried with both our rakata geared assassin and Juggy tanks. Same result for both. No issues on any other boss.

Jugg tank here, had the same threat troubles which made the final phase unworkable for us.

Has anyone found if there is a predictable pattern for the shield-breaking pylons? Can you determine where they'll drop from where they spawn?

My thought is that between me and an offtank, we could proactively move the boss to that position and then ping-pong taunts off him to get him to stay there until his shield is broken.

I'm a jugg, but I don't think this has anything to do with class since the rest of the instance was normal. Probably whatever they did to fix SOA reseting if he puts tank in mindtrap is causing this issue.

As for using multiple tanks.. that would be bad for dps on mindtrap reasons, especially in 8 man. Having said that, I don't see what else you could do anyways. The one good thing is that as far as I can tell, none of his damage is mitigated by shield/defense (it is mitigated by armor however). So a dps player who just switches to tank stance should mitigated almost as much damage as an actual tank.

Balls seem to be ticking twice now (occasionally), and Soa has 3 times 1 shotted the person picked up. It looks like they grab aggro, he shocks them, and the die.

Also, our tank (rakata geared, never has an issue) keeps randomly losing aggro during the 2nd phase. Sometimes it's to someone kiting a ball, sometimes it's someone picked up, etc.

We noticed that he now drops threat after casting Mind Trap so our tank had to taunt after every single Mind Trap. This is doubly stupid because sometimes the tank became the Trap target after his threat dump and he just runs around in P3.

But if the RNGods are with you, this doesn't happen to you in P3 and you kill him.

As for balls, we didn't have any issue on Hard but Nightmare was really stupid. Latency causes some balls to tick twice before exploding at times so that basically one-shots anyone without damage reduction. We just gave up on Nightmare after constant one-shots from the balls.

I do know you can be crit while in the air. I've seen the big number splash up on a crit from hitting the wall.

As far as the damage goes, as I mentioned earlier in the thread, just make sure you have around 18k hp and give everyone a sorc shield or make sure they have some sort of cd. As far as I am concerned the 18k hp is non-negotiable for Nightmare 16.

RE: Eternity Vault: SOA - Antario - 02-09-2012 09:39 AM

we managed to get soa nightmare down regardless of the bug

there's a thread up on the official forums about it, he definetly has a quirk now

but if your team has a brain its not that hard to deal with

such as moving him the correct direction, dps taunting when the tank cant etc

This may have already been stated, but the fixes to mind traps and flying during a phase change only sort of work. If you are in the mind trap when the floor falls, it will break you out, and if you are flying, it will put you on the next level and you won't have to jump. However, as happened at least once to us last night, if he prepares to break the floor and someone lands from flying after the shield is up but before it is broken, that person will not make it out in time and die.

If this happens then you are doing it wrong. He should not transition to phase 3 when you have someone in the air period. There is no timed enrage for the entire phase, so just make sure no one is being flung in the air before you push him to 28%.

We easily did this fight last night by having the tank taunt DURING soa's Mindtrap cast. As long as he got it off while Soa was casting, the tank never lost aggro.

This is the only method I've heard mentioned more than once, so I'm going to give it a try this week, hopefully it works. Seems like the threat drop was a kludge to fix Soa despawning after mind trapping the tank, so it makes sense that he would drop threat while casting mind trap.

Thanks for the tip.
