Op Lock Outs & Difficulty - Pred - 11-14-2011 09:02 PM ![]() Important things to note (if I am reading this correctly) : THREE DIFFICULTY SETTINGS! 8 man Normal - separate ID 8 man Hard/Nightmare - shares same ID 16 man Normal - separate ID 16 man Hard/Nightmare - shares same ID If this is the case you can run the same Operation 4 times in a week. RE: Op Lock Outs & Difficulty - Masterkiller - 11-15-2011 01:28 AM Great info, and I am a fan of the ability to run it more than once with multiple people. When I raided constantly and had more time I loved being able to improve my experience and gear by raiding more. Now that I have less time, it means I can still run with people that have already run it once that week. A lot more flexibility. However, I wouldnt be surprised if they prevented you from running both normal and hard in the same week? RE: Op Lock Outs & Difficulty - Pred - 11-15-2011 02:27 AM People running both Normal & Hard is not an issue at all, not as far as gearing up goes. If you are good enough to clear on Hard, then it does your gearing progression no good spending time clearing Normal also. Bear in mind that Normal is pug mode. Normal is viable merely with the rewards you have completing your character's class quests. What Bioware have done is limit the hardcore player's rate of gear intake by making Hard & Nightmare share the same ID. Makes perfect sense to me in that regard. People can try to farm Normal to give them an increased chance in Hard during the same week. This is where the bulk of the playerbase will be. RE: Op Lock Outs & Difficulty - vali1005 - 11-15-2011 04:47 AM In WoW terms, sounds to me like "Normal" is "Looking For Raid" difficulty-level, "Hard" is "Normal" and "Nightmare" is "Heroic" RE: Op Lock Outs & Difficulty - Sol - 11-15-2011 08:18 AM (11-15-2011 04:47 AM)vali1005 Wrote: In WoW terms, sounds to me like "Normal" is "Looking For Raid" difficulty-level, "Hard" is "Normal" and "Nightmare" is "Heroic" This. So long as the gear quality is different enough between each level to make it feel like an acheivement for getting Hard and Nightmare mode gea,r I'm fine with this. Makes is easier on those lazy Sunday's when you just want to do something, regardless of the rewards and now you can easily run a pug operation. RE: Op Lock Outs & Difficulty - Pred - 11-15-2011 08:31 AM I am just happy that there are 3 options. There were bosses that to my WoW guild were both too easy on normal or too hard on Heroic. With 3 options, I reckon my guild will be fine on Hard and have ambitions to do more on Nightmare. RE: Op Lock Outs & Difficulty - Mesrith - 11-15-2011 10:05 AM There needs to be a very large gear differential between Normal and the others if this is the case, and I'm not a fan of 8-man and 16-man not sharing a lockout. On paper it sounds fine, but I remember feeling forced to kill the same bosses several times in one week in Wrath of the Lich King to maximize my Badges of Whatever. Major burnout. I'm guessing I'll be spending most of my time in 'Hard' mode, but it's good to know if I wanna gear up my alts, or just do something a bit fun for the lols, I'll be able to do a quick 'normal' mode with some mates, and a few PuG's This should also stop what I've taken to calling 'Sunwell Syndrome' where BW feel the need to make huge sweeping nerfs to the raid as new raids come out, so that more people can 'experience' them, like the did at the end of TBC, when they nerfed every Raid and Hc by 20%, and have done a few times since (about three times in Cata...) They just need a cap system so running one raid type in a week gives the maximum amount of currency you can earn in that week, then you can do other modes for fun, or you don't have to. RE: Op Lock Outs & Difficulty - Kaedis - 11-15-2011 06:08 PM Then again, Mesrith, I also remember very clearly clearing Firelands in a single raid night and having nothing else to do for the rest of the week. They need to give running it a second time diminishing returns on the rewards. |
