Anyone having experiences with full madness? good/bad?

I use parasitism instead of full Chain Shock (just 1/3) because I rarely use Shock and I feel passively gaining some HP is better than buffing Shock or -10 seconds off the Stun's cooldown. Any of those choices isn't wrong, they all seem about the same amount of usefulness. Note I recently won some 1-1 matchups with 2% HP and parasitism gave me that HP, but that is a once in a while thing.

Regarding full Madness, I rarely see anyone playing it nor have I played it. I would do 3/7/31 if I was going to try it for PvP, something like: http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/skills/sorcerer#i-200f-1fe7e98d23

e: 3/7/31 is better than 1/9/31

I've been following this thread awhile and tinkering with my build. I was hoping I could get a little feedback on my pvp build.

3/13/25 http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201hZfoMMzMZfRbRsrkM.1

Thanks...I mainly use it for pvp dailies/weeklies and primarily huttball.

RE: Sith Sorcerer PvP Builds - frmorrison - 03-16-2012 05:57 AM

If you play Huttball, you do best with Bindings (takes 15 in Lightning tree). Once you are 15, if you go 1 more you get infinite force. So 3/16/X with 22 left over. Since you seem to like Death Mark, get 21 in Madness, then 1 left over to boost your DoTs (for PvP it is better to boost Affliction, for single target better to boost Crushing darkness).

Personally I rather boost AoE (so 7 in the first tree) then boost DoTs with Death Mark and the other talents. Here is the 7/16/18 spelled out http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/skills/sorcerer#c0k-12d223d-1298d23

Just have to say tested Full Madness 3/7/31 and all I have to say is WOW! Creeping Terror when you first look at the damage is rubbish. 1500 dmg over 18 seconds I believe. (I don't have a calculator in front of me, my work blocks all sites with a talent calculator) The thing that made me interested was a root every 9 seconds. The heals you get from Parasitism, is 1%, but if you talent up to the top of madness there is a talent (can't remember the name) that doubles that health you receive from Pratsitism. So 2% of your max hps heals back on your DOT Crits. Think of your DOTS. Crushing Darkness, Affliction, and Creeping Terror. Don't forget the heal from Deathfield. Your surviability is unbelievable.

I'd like to add that your damage is really high. hitting 300k damage is not a problem. One on One you are almost impossible to kill.

Rotation I do is:

1. Deathfield (for debuff)
2. Creeping Terror
3. Affliction
4. Forced Lightning
5. Crushing Darkness (if Wrath procs) if not Forced Lightning again Wrath should Proc

By Now if he's not getting healed he is almost dead. Finish with Death field or Shock, or another forced Lightning.

Ok, and the only classes, given good geared, that gives me trouble are sins/shadows(darkness specced are the hardest) and mara/senti.The rest of the classes I feel can go both ways, however I do win some of my fights especially easy against an unskilled player. WIth full BM gear can you really beat them one on one with a full madness? (Considering someone on your own skill level, I've beaten both classes but thats mostly because I could use the full duration of whirlwind and electric bindings) Madness doesn't really seem to be able to maintain the distance between those two classes. I mean you can dot up both classes to full extent, but they can remove all of them with some of their cooldowns. And thats when you really need to run...

As I've said, I'll have to try it I guess ;P

RE: Sith Sorcerer PvP Builds - Uninformed - 03-17-2012 05:12 AM

In my humble opinion you lose too much mobility to trade on DOT heals to save you in a full madness build.

RE: Sith Sorcerer PvP Builds - bokyong - 03-17-2012 09:53 AM

What would be your recommendation of a dps spec for Sorc?

RE: Sith Sorcerer PvP Builds - havoc - 03-17-2012 09:47 PM

I would go either 7/16/18 or 0/23/18, because our 31 talents are weak and with both of these spec you get a lot of utility(which is needed to survive) and you get also good damage.

Anyway... after seeing the 1.2 notes I'm not sure if a dps sorc is viable. Yes you can go full madness, but seems like we are being pushed into some sort of healing/support class for warzones now.

I haven't hit 50 yet, but I'm curious to the notion of balance/madness not being a viable competitive PvP spec. The < 50 bracket gives little indication as to how competitive PvP will play out so I'm hoping to get some guidance on this point. Theoretically, when I look at our arsenal, it seems that we have the ability to CC/DPS at any level given the amount of mobility the balance/madness tree offers. Is the imbalance from not having enough tools to escape melee? Our defensive abilities do not scale to melee dps? Our dps does not scale with our ability to escape melee? More to the point, what would have to change to make balance/madness a competitive PvP viable spec?

The person above you is referring to patch 1.2, not the live game. Regarding 1.2 PvP, hybrid Sorcerers lose some burst/AoE without Chain Lightning, but I am not sure that will make it not a viable PvP spec.
Anyway, the changes aren't final but when it gets close to patch release then we can decide on the top specs.
