PvP's gonna be awesome - neocoma - 08-30-2011 01:06 AM I just watched this footage taken from PAXprime. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbBXHIAq2W4&feature=player_embedded# From this I'm certain that PvP is gonna be awesome! Why? Well ...consider a bunch of SW fanboys, never touched an mmo before playing like the JK in this video. You will rape them. What I've seen so far: The guy got 5 talent points to spend but instead of doing so he just checks the talents but doesnt spend points at all. I think he just thought "oh look, so many skills to use, so many passive stuff blabla" He has about 15 skills in his hotbar. He makes use of about 4, maybe 5. He mainly uses white hits which seem to build up rage but doesnt spend it .. He pools rage like hell ...running around with 12 points of rage (focus for the reps bleh) but not spending them at all ...at least not enough. Well he spends it when he dies ...but whatever. Camera handling. He can't handle it. Loses his targets more than once out of sight, even tried to attack one of his allies. Not focusing his targets. More than once he just runs away of his target which is down to 50%. PvP is gonna be awesome when at least 50% of the players are like him you can rape the opposite party with a premade of 4 in no time. Why am I posting this? As this is a theory-crafting site I highly doubt that one of those bad players will ever happen to browse this site ever. So enjoy the vid and be excited about tearing some reps apart who dont know how to play at all. Same goes for Reps who want to rape Imps ofc. PvP will be awesome ... RE: PvP's gonna be awesome - Alratan - 08-30-2011 01:29 AM Not a challenge == awesome? Good to know. (Let's not even get into the fact that this was a demonstration play for a few minutes by someone who hadn't played before and did not know what the abilities and skills did, not someone who had actually levelled and was playing properly.) RE: PvP's gonna be awesome - Piree - 08-30-2011 01:29 AM Okay, that dude is one of the worst players i've seen so far, he probably thinks he has to get the rage bar full. As there are a lot of players who play SWTOR for the story and know nothing about combat tactics, a good 4 man premade will just crush their enemies. Awesome = funny to crush a bunch of noobs. yeah that's funny when you can do that and get even credit for it i.e. medals in warzones. Apart from that it doesnt matter whether he ever played the game or not. I havent played the game yet either and I highly doubt that I'd suck that hard at it due to the fact that JK/SW on this level almost works like a WoW warrior. Core mechanics are equal, you got charge, you build up rage, you spend it. Just reading forums, checking the skills and spending talents would have helped him a lot. But as a complete noob to this type of game (I really hope this is the case here) he has no idea of anything ...and that is why pvp is gonna be awesome. Farming your medals at lvl 10 just because you can. RE: PvP's gonna be awesome - Sol - 08-30-2011 07:06 PM As much as it's nice to smash warzones with a 4 man premade because the other team sucks, it will get extremely boring once you are greared and don't need points. Also, what happens when you are on the receiving end because your team is full of said fanboi's?! Personally I think the more SKILLED players in the community, the more rewarding pvp will be (kicking small kittens is easy but taking on the lion is much harder). Not to mention that more skilled players makes for more accessible pugs (yes I know you're probably going to guild run everything but wouldn't it be nice to know that there is another reliable source from which to recruit players at the very least? While I enjoy the occasional ROFL stomping in BG's give me a challenge any day. RE: PvP's gonna be awesome - Piree - 08-30-2011 08:24 PM Let's just hope swtor has or will have a arena system so that you can also fight people the same skill as you. If it are mostly fanbois in your team who don't know how to play, I will make sure I always teamup before I go in a battleground, even if it's only with 1 friend, 2 people who know how to play the game are better then 6 nabs running around. I will just use them as bait, as most of the time the other team will always start on the easiest target ![]() As for the ROFL stomping in Bg's, I agree with you, occasional it's fun, but a challenge really tests your skills. That's why I hope there will be some sort of Arena. RE: PvP's gonna be awesome - Pantelijus - 08-30-2011 10:50 PM I hope BioWare doesnt implement arena like system(deathmatch) into SWTOR . Its gona transform SWTOR PvP into WoW's RLS vs TSG type BS which i hate the most Arena these days isnt about skill its mainly about comp vs comp and pillar humping which is sad. Warzones + World PvP + no flying mounts + questing area where factions colide = PvP dream Deathmatch type arena + flying mounts in World PvP + mad healing = PvP nightmare RE: PvP's gonna be awesome - Sol - 08-31-2011 09:20 AM (08-30-2011 10:50 PM)Pantelijus Wrote: I hope BioWare doesnt implement arena like system(deathmatch) into SWTOR . This. I don't think Arena's are true pvp at all personally. I prefer BG's as it has elements of 'real' (vaguely used term) combat where you don't have every CD up at the start of every encounter. Not only that it's random. Sometimes you're losing and big brother turns up...sometimes vice versa. playing cat and mouse with flag holders to draw them out and ninja cap is also fun. For me warzones offer greater variety of gameplay without having to bring certain classes just because they work will together. RE: PvP's gonna be awesome - Alratan - 08-31-2011 04:44 PM I agree, as Arenas are just so artificial, lacking context and strategy. There's short-term tactics, but no long-term hunting or strategy, and the incredibly tight quarters reduce the amount you can take advantage of large amounts of terrain. A proper goal to aim for and defend/attack/scout is always what I prefer, with lots of small battles rather than a single one. As close as it can get to old UO PvP as possibly, basically! RE: PvP's gonna be awesome - metaspy - 09-01-2011 11:22 PM In the end I would rather have some open world PvP based around some objectives or raiding enemy cities, instead of Arenas. |
