RE: Arsenal Mercenary | Gunnery Commando DPS Compendium - Qed - 03-05-2012 04:11 AM In case you hadn't seen it, the diminishing returns formulas are listed in this thread. RE: Arsenal Mercenary | Gunnery Commando DPS Compendium - Sotiras - 03-07-2012 04:20 AM Hello, I was curious sir if you could specify what HPH means I believe I know HPS stands for Heals Per Second, but If I am wrong on that please clarify HPS as well. Thank you! Secondly, I read your guide and If I'm reading it correctly we should go for Aim then Power then Crit then Surge then Alacrity lastly. Which makes perfect sense. Now I am wondering... What are the diminishing returns for... Crit Chance... Whats the soft cap and the hard cap? Surge.... Whats the soft cap and the hard cap? The reason I ask is because currently on my Trooper I have 41% Crit and 68% surge. I almost have full Rakata minus the Weapon, off hand, head, and chest. Everything else is Rakata with my Belt and Bracers Crit with +28 Aim augments in those. That leads me to my final question I know for healing Power gives more of a straight boost to healing but wouldn't Aim my primary stat be most beneficial all around? I am a PvE healer and would love to know the answer to these 3 questions to improve upon my game play. Thank you for the wonderful guide sir! Any help would be greatly appreciated. RE: Arsenal Mercenary | Gunnery Commando DPS Compendium - Aandaas - 03-07-2012 04:43 AM I have a question regarding accuracy. When I am looking at my character sheet I have under the "Ranged" category 106% accuracy in full Rakata, but my "Tech" accuracy is 115%. Should I be aiming at 108% "Tech" and only 100% "Ranged" or is the 108% on the Ranged tab? RE: Arsenal Mercenary | Gunnery Commando DPS Compendium - Rakunvar - 03-08-2012 03:03 PM @Gwarrr and anyone else that may need it. I'm not sure if this is of any help at all.. My guild and I were recently accepted to the 1.2 PTS transfer/raid testing. I was curios if there was anything info wise or whatnot that I can get or watch for you to help with anything in the future? Figured I would ask/mention just in the event you or most others were unable to join the 1.2 testing. Also, so sweet spot range when your rakata geared for surge looks to be around 180-200ish before its just complete garbage really? Going off of Bural's Spreadsheet and gonna give my other stats just to make sure they match up. 1600 Aim, 300 pwr, 325 crit. I thought the bad end of the curve for Surge's DR was around 225-250 range is why I am asking just to make sure I am not going to be swapping mod's for nothing. RE: Arsenal Mercenary | Gunnery Commando DPS Compendium - Dctr - 03-12-2012 12:08 AM Has anyone ever tried this kind of hybrid spec ? http://knotor.com/skills#AgwBFhLZSVFxeoKKkZqjqbHK23OKkZqry9La Playing around with it for a good month now, i have very good results. Using High Velocity Gaz Cylinder (mainly for the arsenal heat regen talent) As for my rotation, i go tracer missile x3 - incendiary missile - rail shot - unload as my opener and then the following priority : TM if my signatures are going to fade - IM if the target is not burning - RS - Unload - Power Shots The rotation is a bit harder to maintain than with the classic spec but the heat regen is really nice. My stats (raid buffed) : 1600 aim 35% crit 76% surge and 4pc pve set bonus If someone has already tried something similar i'm very interested in his results and feelings RE: Arsenal Mercenary | Gunnery Commando DPS Compendium - hxxr - 03-13-2012 12:05 AM Problem with your spec is you're missing out on a lot of good stuff of Arsenal. Barrage, Heatseaker Missile, 4% crit, 5% alacrity and improved Vent Heat in trade of Incendiary Missile and the RS proc. And some of your talent points are simply wasted, as they'd need Combustible Gas Cylinder to be active. I'm rather certain that Mercenary hybrid specs are greatly outperformed by 31-specs. Did I miss anything on the use of Fusion Missile with Vent Heat and Thermal Sensor Override? As it takes the same time to cast as Tracer Missile and deals quite a bit more damage, using it as often as possible (together with the 2 heat management skills) will increase your DPS. Yes I already know that it's a hard trade-off but you may consider few other things : - first, the heat regen allows me to spam skills forever, no need for Rapid Shots and i usually don't use my Vent Heat, or only after a streak of bad luck with RS procs - second, RS ignores about 70% of target armor (more with other raid debuff) which makes it crit for a bit more than 4k in my case and, after various tests, is refreshed about 9-10 times per minute meaning that i can cast twice as much RS than HSM if specced What i miss the most is the Barrage proc ofc. Power Shots hit harder than TM so it helps closing the gap, together with IM ofc and i feel i'm losing less dps while moving. That's why I would like to know if someone else ever tried something like this. Without meters nor logs it's hard for me to compare so I try to take the council fight as a reference but from one week to another... PS : i'm the only DPS merc in my op group so no Signatures stacking for HSM RE: Arsenal Mercenary | Gunnery Commando DPS Compendium - GWARRR - 03-13-2012 08:22 AM (03-13-2012 01:15 AM)Dctr Wrote: Yes I already know that it's a hard trade-off but you may consider few other things : How does Power Shot hit harder than Tracer Missile? See what I wrote a rather long time ago (it's actually in the archived Arsenal DPS discussion): (11-21-2011 08:08 AM)GWARRR Wrote: I ran some #s with the Tracer Missile damage formula, it turns out that the Stat Spam had the base Tracer Missile damage numbers (but that is only half the picture), and that Tracer Missile has a 2.11 Spell/Tech Power bonus, so at level 50, with an approximate 1400+ Aim (I used 1400 for base purposes): So the more Aim, the more Power you have, the better Tracer Missile gets in comparison to Power Shot. If with only 1400 Aim gets you 200 damage extra if you TM over PS, with higher levels of Aim, Power that you get with tiered gear, it adds up to a HUGE DPS loss that I'm not even sure extra resets on Rail Shot can overcome (no matter how much I love Rail Shot, I'm not sure it can be overcome). Assuming you have enough Crit (~30-35%), then combined with the 2pc PvE bonus, your Tracers are critting 50% of the time. Which means that the expected heat venting will be 8 heat every three seconds. I'm not sure Pyro can match that sort of heat regeneration. I would say if you don't have enough crit, Pyro's heat regen would outstrip the TV proc regens. In addition, I'd say that TV procs are a "safer" regen mechanic for heat management than Pyro's: Pyro's can yield some insane results, but you've got to be making sacrifices to the RNG gods or else you can get shafted more often than you'd like. Without combat logs we can't be certain, but personally I discourage hybridizing for Mercenaries since their trees are designed against hybridization. With the hybrid build you give up quite a huge chunk of DPS having to resort to Power Shot for Rail Shot procs, and other things such as Barrage and extra crit chance that you can get with extra points lying around if you specialize into one tree. As you also noted, having to juggle between half-Arsenal and half-Pyro rotations can get exceedingly complex and may not be worth the hassle. ------------------------------- Announcements for the thread: -With 1.2 this guide WILL be expanding to adequately handle Pyro builds (yayyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). I have been playing Pyro Merc for the last week or so and it's fantastic (playing Assault VG made learning Pyro Merc easy). The DPS potential is great, and more than viable. If you have any extra tips or special things you think should be mentioned, I'd love it if you PM'd me those ideas/stufz. -Also, just as a caution, if you're looking for some of the more simple questions and answers (i.e. what Accuracy % do I want? etc. etc.), please either A. read the first post before asking, since as far as I have written, it answers the basic questions at least, B. use the 'Search' function if you have a particular thing in mind, or C. post them in the the Simple Q&A thread. We want to maintain a cleaner, more reasoned thread here, and instead of cluttering this guide up with simple Q&A, I'd encourage you to take 5-10minutes to see if the answer's already out there, or take your questions to the appropriate place. I won't hesitate to prune or move the less relevant posts in this thread, as all they do is make the theoretical discussion at hand disjointed. I've been cramming for finals and so haven't had time to maintain the thread (procrastinating now as I write this post, actually), so I will start going through and pruning the posts before a bit in a day or two as well. Thanks in advance, folks. |
