Need help deciding which profession to select in Guild Wars 2? MMO-Mechanics has you covered! Over the next few weeks, we will highlight each profession available with a brief overview of game play, archetype, and other unique characteristics about the profession to help our fans choose the right profession.
The Warrior is your heavy armor wearing melee class. Warriors yield a versatile and balanced arsenal by combining both offensive and defensive abilities. As part of the Soldier category, they are able to wear the heaviest of armors which allow them to go toe to toe with enemies in melee, shrugging off damaging blows to dish out their own ferocious assault.
Warriors will build up adrenaline as their special ability (similar to how adrenaline works in the original Guild Wars). Adrenaline can be stored up to three levels, and can be unleashed after one level is stored to deliver an explosive burst attack. The burst attack will become more power (through additional damage or adding status ailments) when used at higher levels of stored adrenaline. Each weapon the Warrior can use will have its own burst attack.
Warriors being the masters of martial melee come well equipped for that task. Warriors can don two-handed weapons (such as a great-sword) to inflict massive damage. Warriors also can opt to use a more traditional one-handed weapon and off-hand item (such as a war horn) for a more balanced attack, or even dual wield (such as two axes) to become a frightening whirling dervish of offense. For aquatic combat, the Warrior uses a harpoon gun for long ranged combat, and a spear when the battle comes closing in.
